Hi there! Looking at some of the passenger simulation add-ons and wondering which to get. PACX is more expensive and seems a bit more polished, but SLC looks a little more wallet-friendly and has most of the same features (though in the videos I’ve heard, the voices sound more robotic which I’m not a huge fan of).
Which do you fly with? What do you like? What do you not like? Have you tried both, and if so, which do you prefer?
I have bought and tried both PACX and Self-Loading Cargo… I prefer PACX. It’s simpler, more compact but also quite powerful tool to have with better and non-obtrusive User Interface. I wish I could get my money back with my SLC purchase, but I felt bad for the guy making it, so I let him have my money for future development. And I just use PACX the whole way.

PACX all the way. The developer for SLC has been promising an update since AUGUST of 2020… and if anyone asks about said update, he blasts them, so I just moved to PACX and couldn’t be happier.

Definitely PACX, I use it on every flight
Can you use or add custom sounds packs to PACX? I’m a SLC user who’d like to find a better option because the default sounds in SLC are nothing short of horrendous. To solve that I manually replaced a lot of them with custom sounds (thinks like cabin annoucements or FA calls).
Can similar be done with PACX? I know you can set a custom safety video annoucement but is there scope to manuall modify or replace other sounds?
Cheers,
i use paxc too, but when the the Boarding Sound runs or the safty instruction, i baceme a massive stuttering…
You can add custom boarding music and custom safety briefing audio. But I don’t think you can change the cabin announcement or FA calls because they have a logic behind them. Like after you set destination airport. The FA will callout “flight to Singapore” if you set your destination to WSSS.
Thanks for the feedback everyone!

Thanks mate - much appreciated. Are the voices OK? Any accents you can select to try and allign to your airline at all?
No there’s no accent. Just one American accent, three voices, Captain, First Officer, both male. And a Female Flight Attendant voice.
Thanks - appreciate it. Shame there aren’t a couple of voice sets. Listening to that could get old quickly.
Unfortunately for SLC is never updated. I like continuous improvements. PACX use

I use PACX on every flight
SLC only excepts credit card
Sorry to say that although SLC is a good base, it has received no love from its dev since release. PACX does feel much more professional/ cared for and functionality is better

Do any of these allow sim brief integration to allow setting fuel/payload?
I’m not sure about SLC… But for Pacx it has nothing to do with fuel/payload. It can integrate with SimBrief, but only for the flight plan. But not the fuel/payload since Pacx doesn’t really deal with it.

I also received confirmation this weekend that PACX has some big updates coming “soon” so for what that’s worth.
SLC guy writes every month that it’s coming out (v1.6) but he’s been saying this since October 2020. It’s funny people still expect something to come out.

Go with Pacx the doc developer is super slow and don’t seem too interested anymore in his actions. Nice guy but nothing done on his end . It was a wast of my money so I go with pacx

Have you guys also tried LukeAirTool and how does it compare to PACX? I’m using LukeAirTool for a week now and liking it so far. What I like it most is that it provides voice packs from many different airline companies (though many of them are not completed); it has a scoring system and it’s free. The downside is that the voices are static so that it couldn’t give you the real-time weather information and the actual departure and arrival locations. For example the voice was recorded from a Hong Kong to Taiwan flight but I’m actually flying to Japan in the sim.
I’d like to know if PACX or SLC could customize voice with parameters, like “Welcome aboard XXX airline flight YYY non-stop from AAA to BBB”? Also, is the career mode of PACX good? Thanks.
