Hi all, just looking for some advice. Been on pc for several months and I’m not sure how safe I feel updating my Nvidia driver.
Reason being it’s all working pretty stable currently but it is several versions back. Is it worth updating?.is it a risk? I do get the odd FPS drop now and again but I think it’s certain scenery add ons,.orbx Sydney is a bit stuttery but I bought it from marketplace and it hasn’t got the latest update yet…
Anyway any advice heeded!
P.s should mention my card is a 3060 ti
If it ain’t broke!
There’s probably plenty of us on here still using 457.

I just wondered if I might be missing out on performance boost. I know the experience app has some new settings you can’t get with the older drivers
If FOMO is kicking in then jump. You can always roll back if it doesn’t work out.

It’s always best to use the most up to date driver but occasionally your gpu manufacturer can throw you a lemon so always be prepared to roll back one. Those that still use outdated drivers should not complain when graphics quality is not up to their expectations.

I occasionally update my GPU driver as I’m of the ‘if it ain’t broke’ line of thought.
If you do want to update, make a note of the driver version number you are currently using so you can roll back if needed.
The update process is easy enough to do.

It’s depends on the driver you’re using… and if you think the updates are useful for you.
Sometimes they just fix some stuff for games I don’t play… then I skip

I will wait at least a week before updating Driver just in case of any major issues.

As a rule yes but then sometimes they can fix similar problems for programs not even mentioned… Maybe it’s just me but I always like to test any performance changes asap (but I always have ddu handy just in case)

No issues here with nvidia’s new driver. Never had to roll back. Generally, it only gets more stable. I use VR, so often its an improvement. For me, the sim has never been more stable, and ive had issues for over a year!

You should update.
Remember what version you are running now.
If you run into issues you can always install that version again

I am currently running the latest GRD 497.29 on my 3090 with no issues, no noticiable gains, but no issues.
I skipped 497.09 based on reported issues on the forum (work around disabling HAGS) and remained on 496.76 before updating to the latest.
If you have issues you can always just uninstall and install the version you found stability with.
I also always do a clean install which removes the current drivers completely before installing the new. This can be selected by choosing “Advanced” during the installation process.
I hope that helps.
