Shrike Simulations F-86F Sabre [Released!]

Also not using spad, just an in-sim axis assignment. So that may be the difference.

Flaps go all the way down for takeoff. The forward position raises, the rear position lowers, and the middle leaves them where they are. Here’s a nice guide for the DCS F-86F that might be helpful.

Perfect, thanks. So full flaps for both take off and landing?

AlanA4643,

Thanks for the inputs, I’ll give that a try.

I found that with speed brakes applied through the entire approach, if you end up a little low on final, and the flaps down all the way, the 86 doesn’t have enough power to maintain altitude. Caused me to hit the approach lights once! So I’d like to be able to keep the throttle up, put the flaps down, and then use the speed brakes to control the approach on final.

Does anyone know how well the F-86 from Fightsim.to compares to the Shrike 86?

Xbox anyone?

IIRC the interior is pretty bare bones on the freeware conversion that’s on flightsim.to. The Shrike is much nicer looking inside and out, and has much more fully built out functionality in the cockpit.

It was fun to pull up the freeware one for screenshots a few months ago, but when I saw this one I slapped down my twenty bucks happily and haven’t regretted a cent of it.

The freeware one is our FSX/P3D version that was (allowed to be) imported into MSFS.

So the flight profile as well as most of the systems (mostly inop), the model/paint/stencils/decals etc are just not up to today’s standards.

You should be proud of shipping the new one, hands-down it’s the most beautifully done fighter interior I’ve seen for MSFS.

Got the update installed, and I’m seeing more realistic performance in mid to high altitudes (no longer slipping past M1.0 in level flight) so I’m very happy. Thanks all, well done!!

AlanA4643,
Got the 86 mapping sorted. Didn’t have any luck with using the axis for flaps, but found that if I used the continuous increase and decrease I can get any flap position I want. Only problem is doing it this way the flaps take about 15-16 seconds to do down. So I just went back to the increase/decrease flaps which govies me full flaps or no flaps, which works OK sicne I only use them for landing. On the speedbrakes I remembered that I had set up my throttle to also work as spoiler control on gliders. So I unmapped that and that fixed the spoilers operating with throttle. I then mapped spoilers to a switch on my throttle and now I can deploy them whenever I need them. I discovered the stick hat switch IS working for trim but it’s so slow you can hardly tell it’s working. Don’t know any way to speed that up so I also mapped elevator trim to the slider on my throttle and it works very fast (although it takes very little movement for a trim change). Thanks for the help!

Hi Colin! It was great to see that a decent version of the F-86F30 (initial version for FSX), was added to the MSFS.

It was strange realization in a way because a few weeks ago, I decided that I’d try and contact you about getting the F-86 added to MSFS. Then, it was only about a week ago that I found out it had been available for MSFS for at least 2 or 3 weeks!

I don’t know if you remember me, but I was the one who wrote the User Guide for the F-86F30 back in 2012 (for FSX/P3D). In fact, the user guide for the F86F30 was the first manual I wrote for Milviz Inc.

Even though the plane’s systems were very basic, the 86 was always one of my favorite jet fighters and one of my favorite aircraft from the Milviz line.

Great to hear from you and I hope your daughter is doing well too! :slightly_smiling_face:

Wonder when it will be available for Xbox Users.

One of my Childhood favourites.I think it was used in actual war fare after the Korean War i.e. India-Pakistan War of 1965 when an ace pilot of Pakistan Air Force shot down five British Hunters in one go.Extremely versatile and perhaps one of the great jet fighter of its era.

Just hope it will not carry bugs as to make it inoperable as in case of ATR 42/72

They were not British Hunters but Hawker Hunters owned and operated by the Indian Air Force.
I hate to be pedantic but your statement implies that Royal Air Force planes were shut down.

If the landing gear animation was fast, it’s super easy to edit in the config file if you’re on PC. Sorry Xbox folk.

Thank you, was going to say the same :+1:

is this coming out for xbox on marketplace? no one seems to know?

The first post says “It’s coming to Marketplace and Xbox”.

gotcha thanks. missed that
