Significantly longer load times after 1.34.10, often followed by CTD

I can confirm I see the same issue with the crash report txt file. I was running this same test last night.

As for the registry I wasn’t logging those.

Finally, there was this Taxi DDS file that was apparently read 14gb worth in total. Must be a popular file. I can rerun the test tonight and get more details.

When I have all Marketplace add-ons loaded, I see other slow loading behaviors.

An example is when clicking an airport’s target icon on the World Map, I have a long delay before the Set as Departure/Set as Arrival/Zoom to Details pop-up menu appears.

I also wrote up slow aircraft model loading in the Hangar:

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/aircraft-not-visible-in-hangar-when-aircraft-are-selected-from-interface/606194

Worse, though, I am now seeing loading times, after clicking “Fly” on the World Map with the PMDG 737-700 at IniBuilds KLAX (both Marketplace purchases), of around 24+ minutes (yes, 24 minutes to load a flight) before I see the “Ready to Fly” screen.

what makes me nervous is that until now there is no fix available after 12 days via a new beta build for the long loading times. seems to be a bigger issue. also, seems to me that once I switch to and try to fly an airplane for the first time (in the beta build) I get a CTD once I hit the Fly Now button. Did get an CTD when I first loaded the FBW and Fenix but since then was zooming around with them without issues. just loaded the TBM first time under SU13 beta and voila, CTD when I hit the Fly now button. Restarting now and confident that’ll work the second time I load the TBM…

EDIT confirmed, loaded the TBM just fine in the second try

Can anyone from actual beta participants confirm whether the new beta build 1.34.11.0 is somehow improving the loading times or not at all? Not a single word about this on release notes. I plan to re-join the beta as soon as these big issues are fixed or at least significantly improved. Thank you.

Isn’t it best you stay out of the beta if you don’t want to test things for yourself?

Still super slow load times for me on 1.34.11.0.

Disappointingly still shipping with the old nVidia .dll’s

@Seedy would it be possible to find out why this is still happening? Not getting slow loads, not getting stutters at cruise but always getting crashes with those old nvidia .dlls’s

Thanks a lot for your very “helpful and meaningful” answer to my question, which was IMO pretty clear plus with explanation why I was asking.

@Vibstronium, thanks a lot for your confirmation. Will stay out of beta until fixed.

long loading times and sluters with 1.34.11.0

Just scanning through this thread and I’m not sure if anyone has managed to compare the load time/CTD issues with the marketplace version of a problematic add-on and then with marketplace version removed and a non marketplace version of the same add-on installed ?

First time installing the SU13 beta so I did a quick start-up test with just my basic add-ons active:
SU12: 2:21
SU13B: 2:07

Are these Community folder add-ons or are these Marketplace add-ons?

I ask, because the slow load times are related to Marketplace add-ons and not Community folder add-ons.

Mostly community folder. My marketplace add-ons are limited to World updates and 3 or so Carenado planes.

That’s why you aren’t seeing the extended load times and even show improvement.

Is it marketplace stuff in general or is is one particular item that’s causing the longer loading times? I only have KORD, KSAN and Copenhagen from the marketplace.

It’s probably related to the size of the packages, so mainly large airports and liveries - at least that’s what I think.

I have 154 items of Marketplace content that isn’t WUs, CUs, Top Gun or the Red Bull Bullseye Landing Challenge.

These are 154 individual directories — so that would include directories for each add-on plus individual directories for each of the liveries that come with the two Junkers, the An-2 and the ATR, or any other add-on made up of multiple directories.

My testing has revealed three, specific, add-ons that are adding ~1 minute each to my load time — MMGL, MGLM & S68. I do not know if these 3 are universally an issue or if they are specifically an issue for me.

However, many of the other add-ons add ~5-20 seconds to the load. Individually, a 5-20 second amount of additional time doesn’t seem like much. However, it appears that collectively those times add up to additional minutes of overall load time. In my case, even with the 3 clear offenders removed from the installation, I still have an extended amount of load time due to this collective behavior — ~2:16 without my add-ons (again with the WUs, CUs, etc. still installed) and ~6:11 with the add-ons minus the 3 offenders.

No one official has said what an acceptable load time is for both individual and collective add-ons, so I don’t know if this 6+ minutes is inside or outside the window of acceptable (It seems unacceptable to me, especially when compared to my load times in the current release version with the same add-ons is significantly less time) With the 3 add-ons installed, too, I’m seeing in excess of 9:30 to load the sim. That feels pretty unacceptable. As I said, individual add-ons adding a few seconds doesn’t seem unacceptable until they all add up to additional minutes of load time.

What is also not being talked about, as much here, is the load time from clicking Fly on the World Map until the Ready to Fly screen appears. I’m seeing horrifically long load times when my add-ons are installed — significantly longer than the times needed to load the sim. 24+ minutes to load the PMDG 737-700 at IniBuilds KLAX, for example. Three loads of a flight at those kinds of times and, “poof!” there goes 1.25 hours.

Going off the user-base that participate in this forum, most PC users have elected to purchase most of their add-ons independently of the Marketplace. Few PC users have invested heavily in Marketplace content or stuck to the Marketplace as their go-to store for add-ons. Fewer still of those PC users have registered in the beta.

Xbox users have no choice but to purchase from the Marketplace if they want add-ons. I am an ex-Xbox user who migrated to a PC, which puts me in a pretty small subset of PC users with a fairly large collection of Marketplace content.

The short answer is: it’s complicated.

That’s very worrisome especially since these kind of regression bugs rarely get fixed in a beta. The sim was running great prior to this so I really hope MS either fixes this and the stutters before the global release or pulls the plug completely on this SU. I would hate this to be the final state for this iteration of the sim.

Has someone from the dev team even acknoledged the bug?

This thread is marked as bug logged, I think there’s your answer :winking_face_with_tongue:

Yes, see the tag “bug logged” on top the topic.
Irony is that I bought primarily on marketplace to prevent issues like that.
What worries me, is that Asobo did not fix it in the current build. Might be a sign that the problem is hard to fix.
