Another case of starting to do this today.
I removed everything from my Community folder and checked that my UserCfg.opt file wasn’t set to “read only”.
The sim launches, then briefly flashes the installation manager screen like it’s grabbing an update, before continuing to load in windowed mode. There has been no updates to the sim or any third party mods and no Windows or driver updates since I was in the sim yesterday.

Yep, getting a windowed mode every time I start MSFS. I reset it to full screen. Then it is back the next time I load.

No change, 0840 in the UK; immediately before the Dune screens come there is a split second flash of the update manager and I’m back in the Windowed version.
I’m not on a beta version.

Yes still happening to me, I do a flight, quit then reboot MSFS and it goes to windowed. it happens often. SU15bata

As stated, sim always now opens in windowed mode. Very frustrating.

In the “usercfg.opt” file, this line is set:
Windowed 1
If I set that to 0, then launch the game it initially starts full screen borderless, but by the time it gets to the main menu it has switched to windowed, and the file has been edited back to “1”.
Interestingly, if you manually switch it to full screen, when you shut the sim down you can see that the usercfg.opt file gets changed back to “1” again. You can observe this if you have that file open in Notepad++, as it detects changes to open files.
Marking “usercfg.opt” as Read-only has no effect other than stopping the file from being altered. The sim still switches to windowed.

Hi,
Until the last small update I used to launch MSFS in the smallest possible window to save resources because I fly in VR. Now the sim starts in a window with the same size as if there was an update to MSFS, although there is no update.
What is going on?
