The topic says it all. I had a problem with the sim, so had to shut down the PC. I restarted the sim in Safe mode, which worked but as though I was a new user. Then restarted in Normal mode, with the same result - new user and everything gone - settings, addons, the lot. Is there anyway to fix this apart from a re-install? I guess it’s looking in the wrong place for where my community files are - how can this be reset?
I got everything back together by going to Windows settings, Apps and uninstalled MSFS. Rename Community folder to community_save. Then went to MS Store & installed the standard version (I have the DeLuxed version). When it asked where to store the data, I pointed it to my existing folder (this is vital). Started MSFS and my settings were there (phew). Quit MSFS, renamed community_save back to community and restarted MSFS. Everything looks good… now off for a flight!
I did that yesterday, but (stupidly?) Set up all my settings and redid my controllers (AGAIN!!)
Then I saw an empty log book and mildly freaked. Closed the game and restarted and my log was back.
However I lost all my flight training progress. ![]()
Shut down MSFS. Go to Microsoft Store and log off. Go to Xbox Game app and log off. Re start PC. Log back into both the above apps. Restart MSFS.
What I should have added (which is vital) is that when re-installing, it asks where to store your folder. So this is when you point it to your existing folder. I updated my reply.
