I’ve noticed mine now often boots up and the screen remains black, but then finally opens the sim. Are you perhaps not waiting or cancelling it too early??

Is that not an old build? Have you tried checking the Windows store for updates to Gaming Services and to the MSFS main program?

Hi there, @oldpilot54. I moved it to the #self-service:install-performance-graphics category in Customer Support where folks are discussing this issue. I hope you get this sorted soon. Good luck.

That’s a possibility but, it is a long time, several minutes

I have Steam, not sure couldn’t open the sim to check but, I know I have the most up to date build

I have no idea why.

Rename your Community Folder to Community1
Save any addons.

Go to Windows , Settings, Apps
Under MS Flight Simulator APP
Click Uninstall.

Go to Steam/MS Store/Xbox and install FS2020.
It will download and install files on the C: (boot) drive. (1.4GB).

Then will want to install the 130GB (Installed Packages) (130GB).
Tell it where you want it installed (the drive & folder it is on now).

Delete the new Community folder.
Rename Community1 to Community.

thankyou for the response. I have done that.
I have talked to someone I know who is a help desk manager and he seems to think that it is something in the registry causing the issue.
However, I am prepared to try anything at this point.

The version you have listed above is old. The current version is 1.25.9.0.

I would start by updating to the current version and go from there.

Sounds like it’s waiting for a network response. Check your /etc/hosts file for entries. I tried the Map Enhancement Mod one time, and it leaves behind entries in the hosts file that break the sim after you uninstall the mod.

Can you tell me where I find /etc/hosts please

Cant even get the sim started so can’t check current install.
I had deleted the sim, I am using steam.
When I click on play just goes to a black screen and that’s it, nothing more

its in the windows system directory… typically,

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\

Nope - latest 1.25.9.0

Try going into the Nvidia control panel and clicking Restore Defaults under Manage 3D Settings in both the Global and Game specific tabs.

I have no idea of what to look for doesn’t seem to be anything there.
I did a reinstall of windows 10 but, doesn’t seem to have helped.

I will give it a go, thanks for the suggestion.

Alas, no joy but, thanks for the suggestion

I am now starting to consider buying the game from Microsoft store, would this be a good move as I have just about had it with Steam.
I have had messages about game not backing to steam cloud and just frustrating garbage.
Any thoughts gratefully accepted.
One frustrated simmer

Something doesn’t make sense.

According to @TenPatrol, you do not have the current version.
