I don’t want to advertise VPNs, but as I said in my opener, I used a VPN and the issue was gone. I could even turn the VPN off totally once I was connected and the sim did not just boot me out again. So by all means, go get yourself a free VPN or use the one you are subscribed to and give it a go if you’re struggling.

What did you do in MSFS today? (Part 1)

I have 200 Mb/s fiber optics. It’s not a local issue. It’s a MS / Azure issue. I found a solution: connected via a free VPN to USA servers, immediately got 100 Mb/s download speeds. MS keeps on gaslighting us that slow download speeds are a user problem, but it actually is an Azure bandwidth allocation problem.

This is the problem I have. I live in the US. Paid over $100 for this game. Steam says I have played the game 71 Hours. But all but 3 of those hours have been spent trying to download updates. I got the game running last week by going to settings and setting bandwidth to unlimited. I then downloaded, not fast, but faster. Azure AI and Netgear Nighthawk Router

I agree with the above recommendation. Investigate Bufferbloat and use QOS to improve it. Another suggestion: I found that using a VPN improved the experience. Has to do with CDNs I think. Depends on where you’re located, so YMMV. Some routers can be set up to connect to a VPN, I believe Nighthawk does. I don’t know how well it performs, encryption is a bit cpu hungry. You can try to set it up with ProtonVPN free tier, and see if it helps.
