Sim Freezes when using the 787 FMC

I am having an issue when using the787. It seems that when using the fmc the sim freezes. On two occasions I was on the legs page attempting to make some changes to my flight plan first it seems and if the FMC freezes but seconds after I cant do anything in the sim.

I had the same issue, with the Legs page. My last few flights it did not happen, so I don’t know what is selected in my flight plan that causes it. I was afraid to hit legs after it locked up the sim, It completely locks up the program, where I have to do a task manager to shut off…

I was not sure if it was VR related, like the TAB key for the menu, freezing all the controls, so your throttles no longer function…

Same here after fiddling around with the FMC on ground.
Had to use the task manager to end MSFS. That was a new one to me.

I have the same issue I think it is using the TAB key to bring up the menu in VR. Only seems to occur with the 787 Joystick and thruster are disabled. Mouse still works. It came right after 5 mins but pushing TAB key again brought issue back

Same here, just clicked the LEGS page while in cruise, the sim froze, never worked again, I hat to force close the sim. Have you guys reported it already?

I have been having the same issues too. At first I thought it was a 1 time thing, but after restarting it happened again. I was unable to nail down what exactly was causing my peripherals to stop working in VR, until I saw this post. On my end however, it doesn’t seem to be the LEGS page, but more like too many commands at once into the FMC (as in inputting all the preflight info at once). I can get away with it one item at a time and then flipping other switches and going back. The only thing that causes input freezes (except for the mouse) every time I use it, is the HUD.

This is so disappointing, because in VR, it is very difficult to read your airspeed etc. on the PFD on most airliners due to its distance/size, so having a working HUD was my shangri-la. I guess for now ill just have to get used to slamming my face into my desk or monitor trying to read my PFD. Oh well.

P.S. Is the HUD in the Longitude funtional?

I have the same issue that my sim freezes most of the times before descend or on approach but with the 787 only. I also get graphics glitches only with the 787 every other flight. Reverse thrust does not work for me after landing as well only for the 787. Will this plane ever be bug free?
Besides that it would be a very beautiful plane with nice working autopilot and vnav, but having to gamble if you will make it to your destination or get stuck mid-air again or even worse run into CTD is frustrating.

Hmm… For the last while I could use the 787 without it freezing up the game. Now it is once again freezing up the game 20 to 30 minutes into a flight. Pretty much every 2nd time I try to have a flight with the 787. I can’t do any multi-airport flights anymore… This is so frustrating as I did enjoy flying it when it wasn’t freezing up the entire game every time.

After last sim update, I am also having issues with the 787 freezing the game. It only seems to happen right after take off. Is anyone else experiencing these issues as well?

NO, but at the same time I’m not using any mod which would influence default Asobo 78X systems (Boeing 787-10)

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

Spawn on the ground, power up aircraft and try to add flightplan. Does not matter if you add plan by hand or load from simbrief. Make a flightplan and do same changes add airways, waypoints, vor, ndb. Try to delete/add new waypoint between existing ones, try to move waypoint up/down sooner or later you should experience crash.
Another scenario. Fly some route and add STAR in advance (for example 30 minutes from ToD) set for example first STAR for airport of your chosing for specific runway. Start your descend and already during descend try to change the star or the runway (change it on the go) imagine that during descend ATC will vector you to different approach/runway. It should also crash sooner or later.

I dont know, I experienced it for the first time in March 2024, but it was also the first time I tried the default 78X.

Unfortunately I’m very confident I can reproduce the CTD so I can record it via nvidia shadowplay. So if there is someone from the Asobo willing to take a look into it and FIX IT, I’m willing to record the video and share it

i think its all one big issue, interacting with the fmc causes either the sim to crash, the cockpit to freeze or the displays to freeze, all different manifestations of the same problem, and with numerous different aircraft, maybe even all of the aircraft, the last aau3 seems to have made it worse with the v2

Not sure if it was the same bug, but my sim soft locked for the first time in maybe a year using the 787-9 mod yesterday.

I had left it in wing view, so couldn’t see the cockpit state.

Seems either new Nvidia driver or AAU3 related.

That had to be something else. These issues we have are directly conencted to the FMC and using FMC (changing waypoints, route, sid stars etc.).

I had the same problem this morning trying to play with the Boeing 787 for the first time on my PC. I was playing in the FMC Trying to make a route and suddenly the simulator froze and I lost sound and then the game Terminated by itself I was back on my windows desk.
