Sim is pausing for 1.5 seconds every 1 minute 15 seconds

Thanks! I will try!

I would rather go back to 23h2 than continue with 24h2.

My MSFS2024 has spikes every 10 sec when in Motion.. so hopefuly 23h2 will be the solution for me..

Update: so I did roll back to 23h2, but didn’t help… Something has been done with the SU2 that messes up things.. I remember the earliest SU2 beta versions was good, but this spikes (purple) came afterward the the latest SU2 beta versions..

I have the most recent bios fix for the cpu and it appears to be running cool and well within voltage parameters. I think if it was failing I would experience more symptoms other than a stutter in MSFS every 60 seconds. As this is a new system for me, I don’t have any other games installed; still testing/tweaking prior to installing anything new. Other than the above stutter problem the system appears to be running perfectly.

A quality reply, thanks for your effort TenPatrol. Some of your suggestions I have not previously encountered so I will indeed be trying them all out. Will report back. I’ll be uninstalling all my monitoring tools first including HWiNFO. I don’t use FSUIPC. All drivers/bios up to date. Yesterday I tried a clean version of most recent Nvidia driver and MSFS2020 runs great with it…except for the persistent 60-sec stutter! I should have mentioned I still have MSFS2020 installed on my older PC and it runs perfectly. Old PC is an 8700k running at 4.8, GTX 1080ti, win10. Smooth as butter locked at 30fps but nowhere near the new PC’s fps. Locking my fps in new PC had no effect on the 60-sec stutter.

Win11 24H2. Thanks for the efficiency core suggestion. Will try it and report back.

Thanks to everyone for chiming in with new suggestions. This has now become an obsession
for me.

I am observing that the 60 sec spikes are not there if I am on a native airport msfs2024 ( like Aerosoft EDDL).. if I am on a MSFS2020 airport like the Aerosoft ENGM, I get these spikes..

I guess that MSFS2020 airport that are already compatible with 2024 should get a new patch so that it’s optimized with SU2. My 2 cent!

Well I tried all the new suggestions:
Memory Integrity was already off
Turned off e-cores in bios
Turned off Virtualization in bios.

No effect on the 60-sec pause. Happens with every airport/aircraft I’ve tried, native and third party, with nothing else in community folder.

Toggled off every conceivable MSFS setting (traffic, photogammetry, reduced graphic settings to minimums, weather off, etc).
Deleted all third party apps.
I would have also wiped everything clean and started again reverting to prior windows version if
there was any evidence this would help, but as most have reported, it doesn’t.

Not giving up just yet but close. I’ve spent days on this already and don’t know what else to try.

I suppose it’s possible that the MSFS 2020 installation I performed on this new PC did not take properly as it wasn’t a fully ā€˜clean’ one. I used the method of installing MSFS then copying all addons from my older installation on the older PC. This theoretically should not have impacted anything according to my research however.

I bought this new PC solely for running MSFS, with a view to getting MSFS 2024 at some point. The result is disappointing to say the least.

Question. Did you do a fresh install of Windows 11? If you took a hard drive with windows on it and installed it in this machine you will have issues. Windows has a hardware access layer, and its subtle different between manufacturers as well as CPU generational models.

Make sure its a fresh install with the correct chipset drivers installed. But seen this in these scenarios before with 2020.

I believe it’s a polling issue… somewhere there’s a rhythmic event triggering the stutter. What USB devices do you have connected? Do you have anything connected on Blueteeth… These external devices can be Searching regularly, trying to connect, causing this interrupt. I believe I went back to Keyboard and Mouse wired, and the 30year old Extreme 3D joystick and took it back to basics. I forget exactly what solved it, but It was related to my Bodnar Authentikit implementation.

New PC so fresh win 11 install. It’s a pre-built (ugh) Lenovo Legion Gaming desktop. I’ve built my own for the past 20 years but could not pass the clearance deal I got on it. Could not come near the price I paid using average quality parts to build my own again.

Polling issue? Thanks for the suggestion, will investigate further.
Will report back if this fixes.

EDIT: I pulled all usb and display port cords from their respective hubs/switches and connected
directly to the PC. Peripherals include a BenQ display port monitor (switching this between 3 pc’s). Logitech mouse, Steelseries keyboard, Track IR and T16000m Joystick (also on hub/switch).

Also did a memory diagnostic and hard drive error check…both negative.

No effect on the problem. 60-sec pause persists.
Edit2: Bluetooth is turned off.

Please click the Start and type Startup apps and press enter (or Task Manager > Startup apps).

A new window will open showing all the programs that launch when your system starts.
Take a screenshot that clearly shows the names of all the startup programs listed there.

Please attach the screenshot in your reply.

Have already tried diagnostic startup and disabled all startup apps. Presently I only have enabled:
Logitech Gaming Framework
Microsoft Edge
Realtech HD Audio Universal Service
Windows Security notification icon

I also manually disabled these in Task Manager during various troubleshooting, together
with a host of various services and processes. No luck so far.

I should also add that MSFS2020 runs great…in between 60-sec pauses

Thanks again for everyone’s willingness to help.

Please go back to your Startup Apps list and disable everything except Windows Security so that it’s the only program launching at startup.

Also, could you please let me know your full hardware configuration

I did as suggested but nada.

Keep in mind these 3rd party PC companies do not install Windows from scratch. They blow a generic image on your disk that might not be optimal so weird things can pop up.

If you still find that nothing is resolving your issue you can reinstall Windows without losing data or programs. I was at my wits end with my secondary sim rig and tried this and it worked. No data was lost and I didn’t have to reinstall any programs. Even my Microsoft gamepass games that were installed worked without a glitch (including the sim)! The reinstall resolved my instability issues and my PC has been running great ever since!

Just do a back up of your PC before you try it just to be safe :slightly_smiling_face:.

Cheaper motherboard has no bios control for wifi/bluetooth. They were already turned off in Windows.

Unplugged USB devices as suggested

No joy.

No special drivers or software for the TM joystick. Windows assigns its own driver when plugged in and it is identified in Device Manager as simply an HID compliant game controller. Fully functional.

Interesting. Was unaware of this Windows reinstall option. Will definitely look into this if no other solution. Although not as bad as some companies, the bloat in the Lenovo windows install was minimal and I’ve already removed some non-essentials. I hear you about the generic image method and its possible shortfalls. In my troubleshooting I did disable all programs/processes that relate to anything Lenovo may have installed (Vantage, Legion Arena, Lenovo Now, Nahimic, etc.) however this did not cure the 60-sec pause.
