Sim so bright

Anyone else having a problem with their eyes? The sun in this sim is so bright it’s hurting my eyes. I’m not lying. I walk away from my monitor and I can still see it in my eyes.

you have a very bright monitor… why are you staring at the sun?

There’s no problem on 2020 or any other games I play. It’s just the sim. It’s so overexposed It hurts.

can you run any filter on the game or turn down the brightness on the monitor? I don’t have this issue

Oh sure I can use a Nvidia filter or turn down the brightness on the TV monitor but I shouldn’t have to just for this sim. 2020 is fine. Other games are fine. It’s calibr6 for TV or my streaming stick ior anything else. It’s just this sim is overly bright.

I agree. It’s too bright.

And you’re not even able to see screens when the sun is shining on them.
Look how hard it is to read the MCDU on this screenshot.

Yes it is a problem. It is called Eye Adaptation and it was in FS20 too, but we could alter the .cfg file to disable it.

It is even stronger in FS24 (the whole game is brighter) and it can not be disabled. Just another screw up in FS24.

To be honest I think it’s a health issue.

I agree with this, the glare is ridiculous in the sim on pretty much any glass surface/screen.

Disagree, brightness / sunlight in 2024 is really good, very realistic. If it’s uncomfortable on your screen tune the gamma / brigthness in Nvidia overlay or something.

Just for clarification: are you on Sim Update 1 Beta? I liked the brightness in 2024 before the SU1 Beta. Now its just overexposed and I had to change the time of the day to be able to read displays… And it can’t be the solution that everyone has to change some Nvidia settings to see screens while flying in daylight because it’s overexposed by default.

I guess thats another problem they are talking about. I’m not talking about the brightness of the screens in general. I’m talking about the brightness of the ones the sun is shining on because of the reflection.

Like the OP said… the sun is too bright after SU1 Beta

Compare the difference on that screenshot

Yes the title started differently, but in the discussions below it is also going into the direction of “too bright”.
For me, had to uninstall the beta due to this, it’s unbearable to look at.
But in the end it’s also ok to have several threads on that big failure

SU1 beta. I’m on an HDR screen and it looks great.

Have you all been in a cockpit on such bright days ? It is bright, but god wont let me file a bug ticket… it’s true.
i like the way the light varies now during takeoff and climb out… its a bit odd to adjust the displays all the time, but it seems to be thats just life.

No, it’s exactly the same issue.

For SU1 / beta they increased the camera exposure in darker day time environments, with the specific intention of making things more readable in overcast / rainy conditions.
But they overdid it to the point where being in the “dark” environment of a cockpit alone can lead to significant overexposure, especially when looking at light surfaces like screens, or in your case the sun-lit bright grey of an airliner cockpit.

The problem has been feedback-logged, we’ll see what comes of it.
For now at least, if it is too much for you, you can just go back to the current live build.

You’re totally right. Haven’t thought that trough that it’s the same issue just appearing in other forms. I’ve voted for it and will keep that thread clean with it from now on.

The adjustment from looking down to looking up is nice but overdone. Voted

Same here. When looking down to the FMS brightness goes up like crazy
