Sim still crashes CTD when changing/checking control options

I have spent the last 2 days after work to get the bravo throttle to work with the crj and oh my still not done because the sim decides to randomly crash when Im checking or changing the controls in the sim settings. no i dont have more than 8 or 10 usb peripherals connected in fact I have only a mouse a keyboard and the bravo throttle connected however I can not change a single control binding without the sim randomly crashing to desktop. this is infuriating. has anybody had the same experience and any idea how to fix this without deleting all profiles because this is really starting to annoy me… I just want to fly a bit after work and the sim crashed 4 times in the last 20 minutes. what a nightmare this sim has become.

Moved to User Support Hub for community assistance.

I don’t have an answer, nor the exact same issue, but I’ve found that if I change my control profile in Spad.Next, my sim will CTD 100% of the time. There’s definitely something wrong that’s causing the sim to CTD when changing controller settings.

I haven’t experienced it causing a CTD when changing settings within the sim, but I’ve had the sim get stuck in the controller settings menu where I can’t click on anything or exit, despite the buttons still visually and audibly responding to me clicking them.

I hope 2024 has a lightweight UI. 2020 has such a sluggish and glitchy menu system.

I switch SPAD profiles infrequently, usually because I want to copy an entire device, or maybe just a single switch from another profile, and paste that into the one for the plane i am flying. I’ve never had it crash the sim doing that. I have however had it crash the sim when scanning through LVAR’s. All it took was for me to hold the down key to scroll through the list, and the sim fell over. I’ve have subsequently done that, and not had a crash, but there may have been a SPAD update in between, I don’t remember.

Do you have the latest SPAD release installed?

Maybe a bad USB port, not supplying enough power? Try a different one, or maybe a USB powered hub.

Of course, I’ve had two CTDs this evening, both when messing with Spad.Next. :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

I have never had a ctd caused by fiddling around with spad.next. its always the controls menu within the sim… sometimes also the content manager. but not as frequent (10/10) as in control settings. I literally can not change/delete the default throttle axis so I can set it up for another axis on my throttle quadrant via spad.next. this is keeping me from flying the crj, the pmdg 737, the atr, the dash 7 and the bae 146. Im really at a loss here.

Have you tried creating a new, “default” controller profile, switching to that, then unassigning what you don’t need. It may already be blank, I honestly don’t remember since its been ages since I’ve done it, but don’t copy an existing one. A brand new one.
