Sim stuck at Press Any Key to Start

After a week or so of not using MSFS, went to start it up today. I takes a LONG time to get to the “Press Any Key to Start” page, and when I do get there and press any key, I simply get a black screen, with a gray notification box that has nothing on it, text, button, error, nothing. If I close that box, I go back to the “Press Any Key to Start” page. Cant get past it.

Any ideas?

One possible reason is that one of the buttons on your joystick is constantly pressed due to some reasons. In my case my XBox controller had one key accidentally pressed against a book on desktop. Once I correct it pressing a key to start worked. But agree, this pressing a key to start thing is totally stupid and unnecessary.
