Sim time cockpit clock

Hi i need help with the sim rate I’m definitely on default sim rate and my cockpit clock is running about 20 secs slow per minute

Hence a 2 and half hour flight is taking roughly 3 hours in real time as my log box confirms at the end of the flight however the cockpit time is showing the correct flight time

I’ve tried deleting all third party apps and aircraft and ran the Sim with the default a320 neo and the same issues still appear

I tried a 4 hr 30 flight last night and it took 6 hours in real time

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

I’m honestly not sure to follow what is what.

You flew 2H30 real or 3H real?
The clock in the cockpit shows 2H30 virtual or 3H virtual?
The log book shows 2H30 recorded or 3H recorded?

Sorry i haven’t made that clear the clock is showing the the correct endurance for the flight but it’s incorrect the log box is showing the real time of the flight like I say my cockpit clock is 20 seconds slow per minute

Thank you

So you do know that you can adjust the sim rate correct? It is done so using the R+Ctrl+(either) +/- to increase or decrease the sim rate.

I’ve noticed that in default mode my cockpit clock appears to be just a little fast whereas a true second of time is about .8 seconds on my clock. But if I hit the R+Ctrl- keys it slows it down to whereas it takes almost 1.5 seconds on the cockpit per true second.

It would be good if there was a way to calibrate the clock to accurately produce 1 sec./sec. but if there is I’ve not found it.

And 3 hours real time when it should roughly take 2 hrs 30 the longer the flight the bigger difference between virtual and reality

Thanks for your reply I’ve tried increasing and decreasing sim rate and there’s no happy medium

I Carnt get the clock to sync to real time

I’m sorry I really want to understand and help and it is still not clear enough to me?!?!

Couldn’t be easier you just circle (virtually) the correct answer in:

  • You flew 2H30 real or 3H real?
  • The clock in the cockpit shows 2H30 virtual or 3H virtual?
  • The log book shows 2H30 recorded or 3H recorded?

Thanks for your patience

The clocks saying 2half virtual

Log book is saying 3 hours

Actual real time of flight is 3 hours

Thanks

I’ve had no issues with the sim up to two days ago

Then I suddenly realised my flights in real time started taking longer with the same speed and altitude

That’s when I checked the cockpit clock and realised it’s running slow

Could it possibly be a computer problem and not MsFs

I’ve completely forgotten in the list:

  • Is this flight supposed to take 2H30 or 3H real?

2 hours 30 in real time but it’s taking 3 hours

Last nights flight of 4 hrs 30 took 6 hours in real time

Thanks

OK!

So the cockpit clock (simulator clock time) is correctly indicating the expected flight time as planned (2H30), but in practice, it is as if the simulator was running slower and took 3H00 (computer clock time)
IRL instead. The logbook therefore is wrong because it doesn’t use the actual simulator clock time (2H30) but the computer clock time (3H00). Does this sum up the issue?

Yes thanks that’s more or less it

It’s taking much longer now on my sim to fly even a half hour flight its taking 40/45 mins in real time

Thank you

Well, this got me intrigued and I’ll make sure to watch the watches in my next few flights!

The only other discussion I’ve found about clock and time is:
SIM Time Tied to Computer Clock? - Self-Service / Peripherals - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums

In the meantime you might want to create a new post in the bug forums so that it gets visibility and votes?

That’s great I will do that sorry I didn’t explain clearly in the first place and thanks very much for your help it’s much appreciated

Thank you

My god you have the patience of a saint.

He is our VR, etc. Guru.

Also, I would suggest that the title of this thread be changed to Sim Time.

Sim Rate is something different.

Hi thanks for your help last night

I finally sorted the slow cockpit clock

I’m running the sim on two monitors and extending instruments onto my second monitor and believe it or not its the mcdu making the cockpit clock run slow as soon as the mcdu is popped out and extended to second monitor

As soon as I close it down the clock reverts back to running at the correct speed

Just completed a 2 hour schedule flight and it took 2 hours 2 mins in real time and I checked with the stop watch on my phone and also log book entry was all correct too

Thanks again for your time

This is a great find! I’d encourage you to really file a Zendesk because this sounds like a blatant bug.

Yes I will do that tomorrow it’s was interesting during the test flight every now and then I was popping it out onto my second monitor and you could see the seconds starting to slow down to the point of roughly 20 seconds less per minute

Thanks
