I used to have a few expectations but now I have decided not to have any expectations at all so that I keep myself from being disappointed.
Agree, i think the expectations for dx12 and dlss is too high around here. If it increases the fps or decreases some cpu-load itās just a bonus in a flight simulator. Canāt compare this with some simple games that doesnāt have this far view distance.
I know there is some optimization they could do to decrease cpu-load though.
For example:
- Implement Optional dynamic T-LOD depending on altitude
- Make photogrammetry use less CPU and make it more stable without reducing quality.
- Dynamic Live-traffic and ground traffic depending on our CPU-load or settings.
- Increase/unlimit off screen terrain caching and make it stay longer in the memory. As it is now itās released much too soon.

Agreed. Seems like some serious TLOD optimization and making it dynamic would help a lot with the ground performance. The take-off to 200 feet AGL performance drop is still weird.

Why do they even do Photogrammetry trees? This makes zero sense to me. Isnāt photogrammetry done by morphing the terrain to the building shape and putting the texture around it? Having to make hundreds if not thousands of little tree terrain morphs seems like a good way to hammer the CPU to death. Drop all photogrammetry trees and put in some LOD-optimized trees that stretch to the horizon and 90% of the complaints will be gone. Only doing photogrammetry buildings seems like it would speed things up by 80%.

Yeah, donāt know a lot about this but again if the performance on the ground is ever fixed it should help with live traffic. How far out does traffic need to be to even be a 3D object? There are 100 planes flying around hammering the CPU and you canāt even see 90% of them if you tried.

Yeah this seems like it relates to the issue where turning your head drops frames dramatically. If you put terrain pre-cache to LOW the drop is insane.
Also, for VR it would be great to have an option where it only loads terrain out in front of you. On approach you never look behind, yet, a few thousand objects are being rendered back there.
Does DLSS require running the sim in DX12 mode? If so, Iām really worried. As a VR exclusive user I have to say that the dx12 beta has been a catastrophe in terms of performance so far. And past experience tells us that Asobo will most likely not even test dx12 performance in VR, and certainly not optimize it for VR in the foreseeable future unfortunately.
Well, Dx12 creates more load on gpu and DLSS may reduce that load without need to decrease resolution.
Done well, it should open up 4K as a viable option for those that can use it.
The problem is that often we are limited by CPU anyway. I use 4K with renderscale 70 and are limited by CPU using rtx 2080 super. Maybe i could use higher renderscale with dlss but my fps will be the same because iām limited by cpu. The only thing to increase fps is to decrease t-lod or turn pg and traffic off. Will be the same in su10 if they not optimise those things or make our cpu utilize more cores. Maybe DX12 helps with that but do not have high expectations for that.
Even if they increase cpu utilization in su10 the gain we get from that will be lost when ray-tracing is released and everyone will use that.
I would preffer if they focused on optimization of pg, t-lod and traffic without decreasing quality. Then when we get more utilized cores we could turn on ray-tracing without need to tune down t-lod for example.
DLSS doesnāt require DX12.. I play Assetto Corsa Competizione, it uses DLSS, with DX11.
I just wish they would hurry up and release the beta of SU10. Yes I know they said mid/end July⦠Iām sitting here with 3 monitors, waiting to see if its viable to keep this setup for MSFS, or move to a single 4K screen⦠Hoping there will be triple screen support in SU10 of course.. Something that it should have supported from day one.. Lesser games, e.g. racing games, support it. Iām not a programmer, but Iām sure its not that hard to implement.. But like I said, should have been an option from launch. Ridiculous
I think msfs2020 will only give dlss in directx12 mode, but DirectX12 will be improved as well. But yes dlss can be directx11, just not with msfs2020. At least not with su10.
Photogrammetry trees are just a product of the process sadly, they canāt just exclude them easily.
Someone would have to manually go through and remove them all manually which as you can imagine would be a very time consuming task.
Or they need to make some AI. In any case, it isnāt a simple endeavor.
Is there any official information on that? It seems to me that it wouldāve been better to add DLSS to DX11 first since most everyone says DX11 performs better. I probably already said it but I really have doubts that DX12 will outperform DX11 in SU10, if we donāt take DLSS into account.

A question: will Sim Update 10 be the one supposed to fix, or try it, FPS dorppings, stutters and CTDs wich occur regularly on geound surfaces?
I expect it will be better than SU9 and not as good as SU11.

Would be happy if you could make cheating at the Reno Air Race impossible, e.g. take out the active break also take out minus points in the rating, many players jump off again and again at the lobby because they are afraid to collect minus points.
Cheating remains the main problem and robs me of the fun of the game.

Würde mich freuen wenn ihr das cheaten beim Reno Air Race unmöglich machen könntet z.B die aktive Pause rausnehmen auch Minuspunkte bei der Wertung rauszunehmen, viele Mitspieler springen bei der Lobby immer wieder ab ,weil sie Angst haben Minuspunkte zu kassieren.
Das Cheaten bleibt aber das Hauptproblem und raubt mir den SpaĆ am Spiel.
