Sim Update 7: CPU threading performance degredation/Limited by MainThread w/o photogrammetry, and especially w/photogrammetry

There is indeed light at the end of the tunnel, and even moreso now that Asobo have stated that beta testing should just be a thing for Sim Updates from here on out, for those of us technically-minded enough to run Sim Update betas through the ringer and find+report reproducible bugs.

I look forward to FS2020 DX12 mode being the new Crysis, because let me tell you, there is PLENTY for the threads to work on, should Asobo open the door wide enough.

Yesterday I used the sim all day long with zero issues, no lag, no limitations by MainThread, etc. Today, back to the normal lagging and stuttering, making it almost useless. No changes to sim or addons. No changes in ay settings and no Windows updates. Could this be related to server capacity? I have gigabit internet that runs close to that speed at all times. I continue to be perplexed by this issue that seemed to start when they launched the XBOX platform.

Sounds like it could be internet related especially if there are businesses nearby. I get a few problems every monday morning but a router reset always fixes it.

It is plausible that server speed could have an impact on mainthread performance, especially in photogrammetry areas. myself and many others have noticed poor sim performance in instances where the game is waiting on the game’s (what I presume to be some flavor of Azure) servers.

So far as how this relates to the problem this thread is about: They are similar symptoms of the same limitation, but aren’t directly related. Where this thread is in regards to overall performance being CPU limited due to how the game divides work up between the DX11 threads, network performance issues cause even further degradation of performance as the game just sits and waits on the data, on top of the baseline performance.
