There seems to be an issue with selecting the departure runway. It keeps forcing me to use another runway instead of the one i want to want which is really annoying
I always clear all of the caches before I start after any update plus delete the StreamedPackages folder. It takes a long time to load. Then I reset the MSFS cache by setting it to 1GB and once it is completed setting it back to 64GB.
I then shut it down and restart it. It then takes quite a bit of time to load but part of that is loading stuff to the fresh cache, but it is still quicker than first load. Once that is loaded I then shutdown again. The third load takes just over a minute, which is normal.
So if you follow a similar routine then by the third load you have your normal startup.
I tried this latest beta and compared to the previous one, in flight I have scattering due to the mainthread that loads especially when moving the camera but even when I stand still something has changed, before everything was smooth…
This has always been an issue, though I think it became worse after 2020 SU5. Asobo’s beleaguered attempts to improve performance on lesser specced devices wrecked it for those that never had issues in the first place. It’s a lot better now under SU4 though, but it will still do this.
Any time it has to pull some object into memory that is not already cached will cause these stutters. Once you have cast your view about a bit, and everything is loaded, looking about will cause next to no drops in performance.
I use a freeware app “msfs 2024 toolbox” from flightsim.to that is a one click to delete all the caches. There are several tools like that on flightsim.to. I also then use dlss swapper app to update the dlss files as msfs always seems to be a few cycles behind. I also delete the msfs rolling cache file with every update.
Have you got a bug where you cant change the rolling cache? Mine is currently stuck on 0 and is pointing to a folder that doesn’t exist. Changing it doesn’t save it and resets back to 0
I suspect your cloud save is doing that.
You may need to delete it, but that creates a fair amount of work, as it deletes all your saved settings and logbook.
I get normal starts without any of this stuff. I can switch between beta and normal in about 1 min (steam pc). I think MSFS is now smart enough to clear up without user intervention.
That happens when the folder where the rolling cache is set to was removed in windows explorer. If you recreate the path as adjusted in game you can change or adjust it again.
during flight? this happens to me too, i get manthread to red and then after a little it does that, it takes like a min to go back idk what is the issue
Hello, i have a question do you know if the msfs 24 devs working on masking the screens for dlss ? So they are not blurry? The said that a while and and gave us a update on one of the dev future stuff.
The in-game Live AI and ATC is still not fit for purpose. Still observe poor taxiing, AI taking off at non-runway headings, landing without progressing to parking (then magically disappearing), etc. even after 1.6.18.0.
Yeah. It will be buried if the post simply just gets merged as this is a NEW regression from SU3 - I never saw it in 2020, or 2024 for the first many months. SU3 drops, boom its everywhere.
1.6.18.0 - Is it just me or are the stutters back?
Did a flight today from RJTT - RJFR (both default airports btw)
Has anyone else noticed a massive frame drop or stutters when panning the camera? I’ve noticed it when switching views, looking from inside to outside, swinging the camera rapidly. While it did drop before, it would drop but it still felt smoother. This time it really looked like the sim was struggling.
On landing I had a couple of microstutters on short final. It wasn’t that bad, but it was just enough to throw me off the centerline.
Even in cruise I found the sim stuttering. I know BATC can be a bit resource intensive but I recall having a better experience before.
Either way this flight wasn’t as smooth as the previous couple of builds. Wondering if anyone has been experiencing the same.
I’m guessing it has something to do with loading resources? If people are experiencing the same, maybe I can make a similar post to this in the regressions forum.
EDIT: I realized that I turned my dynamic settings down to a target of 30. So I was seeing more occasional dips down to 30fps. GPU also became less utilized. So I turned my dynamic settings back up to target 60fps and now the sim is smooth again. GPU is now working harder, and now I’m getting a healthy balance of limited by main thread/gpu.
