Sim Update IV (1.16.2.0) is not downloading/installing

Hi again. This is what I got. Where is my mistake?

Hmm. I am not exactly sure – but basically, it cannot install the Gaming Service. I’ve heard some people say they can install it by re-running the command. Another way might work – if you try to launch MSFS 2020 without Gaming Service, it will prompt you to install it from the store. That way may work!

edit

Also, check in “Add or Remove programs” for Gaming Service. If it’s there, go to Advanced options and “Repair” it, that fixed it for me when I was troubleshooting.

Found it. Sorry
I typed an “equal” sign instead of “-”

Great! Hopefully it lets you update now. My pattern was using the Store first.

Thank you very much again, but unfortunately it doesn’t work. The update download still gets stuck on a file and doesn’t progress. I will wait for a day or two and see if Microsoft says something on the issue. Have nice day

To all who experience the same problem: despite the kind and expert help of mblpenguin, my system refused to update.
I decided to uninstall and reinstall FS2020. The good news is that the new version installed is 1.16.2.0 BUT also all my settings, configurations (Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo, and others) are still there.
Worth trying if other methods don’t work.

I’m glad to hear you got things sorted ACJaydee. Sorry I couldn’t help you further and you has to go that far to get things working.

No problem. It was interesting anyway. As you could notice, I am far from an expert in programming, editing program lines, etc
and English is not my mother tongue. Thanks again.

I have read the above with interest but have a a slightly different and very frustrating problem with the same installation today.

The update installed on the Store app ok.

It has now been stuck for >12 hours on one file looping decompressing it continuously without moving on. The file decompressing is the ‘asobo - C152 aerobat 0.1.53 package -1/111’.

I have rebooted and restarted numerous times, followed advice like disabling IPV6, etc. I also emptied the C152 folder, removed all Community folder addons. It put the C152 files back immediately when i deleted them, but then hung decompressing the same file.

I need some urgent help on this if anyone could do it please. I have never had this issue before.

Thanks in advance.

Same problem here with different file (looping download & decompressing). A reboot brings me to the next file with same behaviour

Any ideas?

I also have this issue moved all the contents from community folder into another backup folder on desktop so community folder is empty, installed the update from windows installer, started the sim from windows installer and the installation manager main page is looping

Thanks for posting this, it fixed it for me too!

Anybody have an error message when trying to install the update that says the “content manager is unavailable, please check your internet connection.”

I keep getting that when I try to update and I’m wondering if it has something to do with the whole content manager issue a couple months ago where a lot of people lost their profile/logbook hours?

Resolved the issue on my son’s computer as well.

Capital! I’m so glad this is helping others.

i would really like to have an explanation for the fact that the update works without problems for others and not for some. i for example did not have the slightest problem installing the update. asobo should really take a look at the update problem. with every update someone always has problems. and i don’t think it’s because of the users’ computers. but those are just my thoughts. happy flying!

I am also suffering this looping problem. Im on a cellular jetpack with limited data and it keeps trying download same file over and over. Rebooting does not help and reinstalling is out of the question.

I have the same difficulty loading. It is looping on C152. This is the first time that I have struggled to do an update.
In addition, impossible to ignore the update to launch the simulator and fly anyway!

you are very lucky if your update don’t install, I will give everything to roll back :weary:

For 3 days I have been fighting to load this update.
It was blocking on “pc-fs-base-bigfiles-01.1.143” after blocking on several planes!
Now it’s finally loaded:
It cost me $ 17 to buy version 4 of Netlimiter (1x lite home limiter) because the date of my trial version was exceeded.
I set to 500 / Kbs and it works.
