It will be. I started simming on XBOX 2 years ago when PMDG airlines were ‘never to come on XBOX’, Simbrief integration was not going to happen and so it went. Clearly we need to be patient but slowly everything is coming on console as it makes sense for a developer unless they are doing this for fun and are not interested in earning money… Lots of new simmers have been introduced to the hobby but would never spend a fortune on a PC.
correct me if i am wrong in saying this, but i believe there is an aircraft in xbox that supports simconnect and navigraph moving maps, so it can be done so its about time we had it in the big commercial airliners
Vision Jet is probably what you’re thinking about but it uses Navigraph Simlink not simconnect. It’s integrated in the a/c model so it functions on Xbox and does give a/c location on an external instance of Navigraph. The default Garmin 3000 and 5000 a/c are able to use Simlink running on a PC but it’s not incorporated in the a/c models so doesn’t work on an Xbox.
Old thread, but wanted to share a technical details regarding how simconnect potentially differs from those telemetry export.
In the case of those telemetry export (and probably navigraph simlink used in vision jet too), the software running xbox is the client and it’s connecting to an external server. In the case of the telemetry export, the client is probably not receiving any data from server, only sending. And the client software is controlled by the security measures built into the Xbox and the software needs to be verified by Microsoft before being put into the Xbox.
Simconnect on the other hand, currently designed to be run as a server inside msfs and its data exchange is bidirectional (both side can send and receive data). Other client softwares, as mentioned by op, connects to it using network or windows equivalent of Unix domain sockets, and thus, to use simconnect in it’s current form, the Xbox will need to open a network port or allow those other tools to run on xbox. Both of these approaches have security implications which ms needs to take care off and I believe this is much harder to do than just telemetry export or position report export.
If it’s just a matter of just telemetry export (position, speed, ac state, weather etc), a solution may be easily derived from simconnect, but the client softwares needs to become servers, and simconnect is actually much much more than that.
I am sure they will find more solutions to these, but I think, from what I have seen included in msfs 2024, they are trying to include all those functionalities inside the sim instead of depending on external tools. Is that a good thing or bad thing, i don’t know yet.
Hello there, @AbhishekDey1594 ! Thanks for keeping a strong interest in a better immersion possibility on Xbox.
Yesterday, I allowed myself to be positive once more as I have tested the SimBrief integration now included with the A320neo (v2) from IniBuilds. This is a first! And it does integrate in a great way!
I pre-ordered the 2024 edition (of course) and I do hope that this kind of development will continue. As for VatSim, I know they sent an “official communiqué” stating that they had too much work to do for Xbox to be prioritized for them (and viewing some anti-Xbox posts from the PC community, they might actually all put us in the same category of “gamers” and “not-simmers”)… But…
With the SimBrief integration now at hand, is it possible VatSim and/or Asobo and/or Xbox have finally come to an agreement to move ahead?
Anyone from any studio could respond, please?
(and Xbox haters, please refrain from replying…)
Where did you see that statement ? Would be great being able to use VatSim on Xbox, even though for me it’s almost impossible to believe it will ever be available for Xbox users.
The Simbrief integration with the A320 V2 is not a first for XBOX.
Simbrief integration has been available for over a year now on various other planes for the console.
Simbrief and VATSIM connectivity do not go hand in hand and there has been no mention from either camp that this will be achievable.
Would it be possible to load software onto a 1 or 2 tb drivs and then install the drive into the xbox and run it from there?
Simply…no. xbox will not do it
I have not seen any statement. I’m looking for one.
Thanks, @skypilotYTS ! I hadn’t seen this list.
I’ll try some more, then!
How do we promote this to get more votes? I just voted and wish more people could vote too.
One thing I noticed on the 2024 flight planning website ( Flight Planner) is an icon that looks like it’s supposed to show where your aircraft is on the map. It doesn’t work yet, at least while I was flying nothing appeared or no aircraft took off on the map. But maybe, maybe, I think that in the future the map will allow you to see yourself moving around the world through an external device. Maybe even see multiplayer aircraft around you or around the world, I think. I don’t think this map will be limited to making flight plans only. Who knows, maybe in the future a program will be made so that we can get data from our aircraft in real time on our Xbox and send it to other services like Volanta? It would be interesting.
If this was achievable, it wouldn’t need any promoting at this point
