SimHaptic vs. SimShaker for Aviators for a custom 2 Bass Shakers config

Hello world!

So I finally did it, two Daytonaudio Bass Shakers and one Nobsound amplifier.
The shakers are attached to my GTTrack chair, bottom and back, near my neck.

It’s just wonderful.
I must say, I tried the HF8 for about a month, and ended up having pain in my lower back and finally returned it.
Also, the effects from that unit, just vibration… naaaah, Shakers baby!

To the point.
Whoever is running similar configurations, what software are you the happiest with?

So far, my two front runners are SimHaptic or SimShaker for Aviators with Audio plugin.

I’ve tried both, but SimHaptic seems quite buggy, already wrote the Devs about it, so I don’t know, still waiting for a reply.
SimShaker in demo mode doesn’t really tell me much, just three effects active, hard to tell.

Both cost around 30 euros.

So what’s your experience?

Oh, could we all bribe the SimHub guys to make it compatible with MSFS?

Cheers!

SimHaptic is the best out there. I have no issues with it. I run three shakers. In the near future it will also allow multiple sound cards so you can mix and match and put the shake where you want it.

I own both, I prefer SimHaptic. It’s output feels more intricate and more realistic to me, and it’s interface allows you to tailor the characteristics for each output with individual presets. It also saves profiles for each aircraft you select, and automatically applies them.

Thanks!
How are you actually running the three shakers now with SimHaptic?
Do you know if version 2, which is apparently being released soon, will support multiple sound cards?

I want to add one more Dayton Audio to my table, where the Honeycombs are, and another one to the TPR Rudder pedals. Only doubt is, two BST-2 or two Pucks? Any suggestion?
The ones on my chair now are two BST-1, so happy. But perhaps I shouldn’t have all that power for a table and rudder pedals.
My neighbors don’t hate me that much yet.

Cheers.

It certainly feels very good indded.
The issue I’m running into, at least with the seven day trial, is that as soon as I pause the sim to change any settings, SimHaptic seems to lose the connection with the sim.
Once I resume the flight, SimHaptic keeps running whatever effects where on before pausing, no changes UNTIL I bring it to foreground. In my case I just press Windows key, and then the effects come alive again.
As soon as I click on the sim window, SimHaptics gets stuck again,
Quite uncomfortable in VR.
I wrote the guys but I’m still waiting for answer.

Any ideas?

I have had SimShaker for 2 years plus and for me it was the best flight sim software for my 2 bass shakers until SimHaptic came out.

SimShaker is quite good but hasn’t been updated for a while (unless someone else knows different) and imo has been left behind.

As of now, SimHaptic is my go to software. It has a much wider choice of haptic options and excels in ground handling feedback which to me was severely lacking in SS. Options are saved by plane too rather than plane type.

Hey Team!
Yeah, I found unusual you hadn’t answer, you’re usually quite fat in that.
I’ll jumpy to chat.

Thank you!

Thank you.
You guys are helping me a lot.
I’m gonna talk to the guys about my issue, but I’ll definitely go for it and buy the license.

For the moment I have one on the seat and another on the controls both hooked up to a sound card using a y adapter, these are hooked up to simhapatic. My third one is hooked up to system sounds so you get the planes personality and is mounted on the controls. Once the new version of simhaptic comes out this will all change. I Still beleve this is the best product out there and defintly a game changer for flightsiming and has my vote for product of the year.

Well well, I was asking just about exactly the same questions as you not a week ago; so, I will try to help by offering my chosen solution/setup. Here was my “journey”:

*2x Aura AST-2B-4
*2x 100W Nobsound sub amp
*Place them under my butt and run one Aura through each amp
*Download SimHaptic, VERY pleased with it, life is good

“Well that was fun, let’s try doubling it” <—(this thinking gets me into trouble occasionally)

*4x Aura
*Two under chair, two behind my kidneys
*Run two auras in series through a Nobsound for stereo L, two auras in series likewise for stereo R fed into a Startech DAC —> toslink —> my motherboards soundcard (I wasn’t using it) - they are now 8ohm shakers but life is still good, Simhaptic is the bee’s knees

Finally, I purchase two of those little 30W 8ohm dayton pucks for the rudder pedals, have I flown too close to the sun I wonder? Simhaptic only feeds output to one audio device…

To make a long story short, after a very nice conversation with Andre to arrange payment (there is some legwork to get the Sound Module going… think of it like an ARG!), I ended up using Simshaker Module for the rudder pedal pucks and Simhaptic for the chair rig. Hope this helps in some way or another, good luck!

Hey Captain, great story thanks for sharing! From the coming version of SimHaptic you will be able to assign each effect to multiple sound cards simultaneously - which is a dedicated features for users who has more than one shaker and sound card.

You should open a back alley lithotripsy clinic. You’d pay for all that gear in a heartbeat.

Does the amp have a high-pass line out? I’m considering a shaker setup, but don’t really want to mess with getting another sound card. I don’t have an available PCI slot. I could get an external USB sound module, but I’d prefer to run line out from my sound card, into a subwoofer amp, then a high-pass filtered line out to my amplified full range speakers (the ones currently connected to the line out of my sound card.)

Hope that makes sense…

AS far as I know you have to use a separate sound card or you will get feedback thru your speakers if using SimHapatic. Cheep $20 usb sound cards work the best. I running three shakers.

I have used Simshaker since it was first introduced. All that time Andre has been very responsive to my questions and even upgraded my key immediately when I bought a new computer. Even during the pandemic and the sanctions placed on the Russian economy in with the US , I have had no problems.
However, I just recently tried SimHaptic and it just seems to recreate the “feelings” that I had when Simshaker first came out but then lost for some reason.
So for now I mostly use SimHaptic but still have Simshaker installed in case I want to revert.

I’ve gotten no response from Simhaptic about my query so far, which is: How can I get more than 2 shakers to work? Currently using SimShaker, to USB 7.1 soundcard, to 6 shakers with 4 subwoofer boards. I can’t get more than 2 to work with simhaptic. Any advice? My trial period is ending soon.

Hey Captain, under settings tab you should toggle on multiple outputs and then under main tab you can configure your shakers per effect. If you need help with this please contact our live support at rkApps.shop and we will help, we may have missed your last msg.

Also, check out the first section of the following video which explains how to utilize 5.1 output device with SimHaptic:
