I’m excited to share that I’m working on a project called SIMPANEL. It’s a web-based control panel that lets you manage various functions in your sim directly from your browser. Although I’m still in the development phase, some core features are already up and running.
Here’s how it works: SIMPANEL App creates a local WebSocket server that you connect to through your browser. Once connected, you can manage various functions in your sim in real time. The system is fully functional—it can both receive and send data, so changes made on the panel are instantly reflected in the sim, and vice versa. The current setup includes essential controls like external lights, throttle, gear, and small ap panel, but the system is designed to be easily customizable.
If you have ideas for additional controls, features you’d like to see, or any thoughts on the project, your feedback would be incredibly valuable as I prepare for the first release.
Looking forward to hearing your ideas and suggestions!
Not completely clear about the scope of your project, however, I would love to have an iPad app that can control something/anything in MSFS running on Xbox Series X. This may not (yet) be possible, but that is a product I would likely purchase.
Thanks for the reply, @Nikita. Just so you know, SIMPANEL will be completely free.
The idea for this project came from finding it annoying to keep switching camera views to adjust things like lights, flaps, autopilot, and other controls. It can be distracting when you just want to enjoy the view while flying. SIMPANEL lets you manage these functions from a web panel on any device, so you don’t have to interrupt your view. It’s a great solution for those who don’t have a big setup but still want easy control over their flight experience
Thanks for the feedback, @SaucierPen464. I’ve already included a feature that lets users control the size of the buttons, so you can adjust them to your preference. Adding customizable text size is a great idea, and I’ll definitely include that in the next update. As for Dark Mode, I haven’t planned it yet because the current theme is inspired by the Airbus cockpit, but it’s definitely something I’ll consider adding in the future!
Just a quick update—I’ve made some enhancements to the SIMPANEL config. I’ve added new knobs that really bring the autopilot panel together.
Here’s what’s new:
Knobs: You can now adjust values by clicking and dragging the knobs left or right. A handy tooltip will appear during adjustments to show the current value.
Additional Sliders: I’ve introduced a second type of slider to complete the main panel with spoilers and flaps handles.
Code Improvements: I’ve made some changes to clean up the code and make it easier to expand.
I believe I’ve included all the essential features, but I’d love to get your feedback. Is there anything else you think should be added or improved?
If everything looks good, I’ll start polishing the code and preparing for the first release. Thanks for your support, and stay tuned for more updates!
I understand now, knobs already have that feature, when you just click it, it will toggle specific autopilot setting. I’m trying to make everything look as close to the cockpit as possible
