The fact that you can now save certain controls specifically for a particular aircraft is a big step forward. However, I would have liked the settings in 2024 to be a little simpler. I also think it makes things a lot easier for beginners, as you still have to search for functions to assign them.
Not that I would call myself a beginner, but there are sometimes rarer functions whose names are not always known in FS. For example, I have now searched in the Fs2024 for the water ballast function for gliders, which was still available in 2020 but not found in 2024. Now the function can also be controlled via the function of the strobe lights as described in the instructions. Now I know all this from the 2020 but a newcomer will find it very difficult. It would also be easier, especially if you have several controllers, which makes sense for the serious user.
Hence my suggestion:
- as in 2020, I have my hangar where I can select an aircraft and view it from the outside and inside.
- from there you can access the settings for a controller profile/or create a new one.
- activate the scan function and click on a specific button, knob or control element which, if available, is highlighted inside or outside the cockpit. The function of the element is displayed so that you can learn its meaning.
- If a selected function is already assigned, it is displayed.
- while scanning press any switch, button or control axis on a controller recognised by the FS and it will automatically be added to the aircraft’s profile.
- outside the setting for the controller profile, you can operate all functions normally and try out all settings in the hangar. I can also work through a checklist and train myself to operate the aircraft in the hangar.
A hanger therefore has a useful and practical function.
So even a Software has become more complex, think about easy living.
