Simple Question - MSFS 2024 - Landing Sequence

Did they fix ILS landing yet? That is to say has it been changed back to the way it was in 2020?

Just so we are on the same track, what do you find that is wrong with it?

In MSFS 2020 when you were in range the GS path would show up in the sky and all you needed to do was be at the correct altitude and hit LOC, then turn on approach mode and it would take you down. There is no decent/approach/ils path in 2024 and the AP does not take you down. You have to manually descend.

I suspect you may have something wrong with your installation.
If you have selected a runway which has an ILS, it works in FS2024.
There are no issues of this type.
I personally make two or three flights daily and all works as expected.

I’ve noticed improvements with the LOC and GS in MSFS 2024 compared to MSFS 2020.

For example, when landing at Nice (LFMN), I found that in MSFS 2020, the LOC would often position me slightly to the right of the actual localizer path. In MSFS 2024, this has been improved, and the LOC feels much more accurate.

As for the glide slope (GS), I think MSFS 2024 does a better job of enabling smoother flares during landing compared to the previous versions of the sim, where it felt less natural.

Overall, I feel these changes make for a much more realistic and enjoyable ILS landing experience.

There was a bug that prevented the auto tune of the ILS frequency and automatic switch to LOC when in Approach mode but that was fixed in 1.2.7.0. It affected most GPS.

Maybe this is the issue you’re remembering.

G1000 NXI

  • Fixed an issue where auto-tuning of approach NAV radio frequencies was broken

May help telling us what plane you are flying because not all of them do this automatically.

Besides that, auto ILS works fine.

Citation Longitude

The Longitude uses the G3000 and that was also fixed in 1.2.7.0.

I’ve flown ILS approaches in the Longitude since the update and it works as expected.

I will give it a try then.

Ahhh yes. My corrent favorite, actually.

ILS works fine to me BUT… it actually said somewhere that it does not automatically switch to ILS source. I cant recall if it is a bug or designed that way. (If it was a bug, it may have been fixed.)

If by that you mean changing from FMS to LOC that is not an issue. I can do that manually. The ILS is supposed to guide you down though with minimal pilot input. Last time I tried ILS on 2024 that did not happen. I had to visual land.

Indeed that was what I meant. And I know what an ILS does, I use it all the time in 2024 because it DOES work.

Yeah. It did work this time after ATC borked and I had to redo my IFR clearance. So that is still an issue, and now my altimeter nob does not do whole numbers. So clearly they still need to fix some things. The ATC issue is known, and I already opened a new post about the altimeter nob.
