Hello!

When using SimToolkitPro, I kept getting Riskware warnings from Malwarebytes. Is this known and is there a way to fix this?

Thanks!

Any news on this possible threat?

Thinking about giving simtoolkitpro a try.
Not sure yet.

You can always submit the installer file to your malware software company, and ask them to check it for a false positive.

About blocking scanning for things “known to be safe”, many years ago I bought a motherboard to go in a computer I was building, put it all together, and had it running great. There was an alert on some malware that was spreading so I downloaded Norton Antivirus and scanned my brand new system - it was infected.

I narrowed it down to the driver disk that came with the motherboard. A friend had the same motherboard unopened in box still, broke the seal, and scanned the disk - also infected. The motherboard manufacturer was accidentally distributing malware on their driver disks.

It all depends on how much you trust a company to exercise proper care to make sure they don’t get infected and in turn distribute infected software. I’ve been on the inside of that and for many companies they don’t do everything they can to prevent infections. Employees hook infected computers up to company networks. They download programs off the internet and install them on work computers, etc.

If an antivirus program flags something, you really want to submit the file to get a more authoritative yea/nay on it. Or, only allow it on a computer you don’t do any business or banking on and routinely have off when running other computers.

All it takes is one mistake and you can have thieves busy draining accounts. The stakes can be very high and too many companies save money by not training employees, not investing much in security, etc. Computer security has always been something companies scrimp on to make more profit. It’s against that kind of background that people decide to just allow files flagged by antimalware programs. It’s actually pretty high risk.
