Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?
yes

Brief description of the issue:
Whilst the sim is running, with the Dev mode open (unsure if this has any effect on this issue - further testing needed), I press ALT+F4. The simulator itself seems to close, the taskbar icon disappears and all seems well.
But the PC fans are still going strong. Checking the Task Manager, I can see that FlightSimulator.exe is still running as a process, long after I have closed the sim. In this case I shut it down 15 minutes ago. It has happened three times now, and once whilst I was testing the SU7 beta.

This has also been an issue on previous versions, notably SU5 and SU6.
To end the task, I need to right click - End Task.
It does NOT always happen, notably when Dev Mode has been closed - just going for a fly around…

Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:

Detail steps to reproduce the issue encountered:
Load the sim as normal
Open the Project editor and load something. I’m trying to edit my aircraft.

PC specs and/or peripheral set up of relevant:
Gigabyte Aero15 x9 2070, thrustmaster TCA stick and throttles

Build Version # when you first started experiencing this issue:
1.21.13.0 9 (but noticed on some previous versions too)

I’ve had this occur a couple of times for me, both times the sim froze when exiting VR, and so I had to use Alt-F4 to close FS2020 and found I couldn’t restart it because it was already running (though it wasn’t). The Task Manager did show it was running something and like you, I had to choose End Task to get it to fully close.

I used to have this happen with Logitech Ghub running.

Hmm interesting. I did just install that.

Last 2 sessions now have not hung though, so :man_shrugging:
