SimWorks Studios announced development of Kodiak 100

Ehaviator, the guy who did the stream has a commercial pilot license.

You can watch him flying real Piper Aztec and Navajo on his Youtube channel.

It is maybe his joystick or the flight model the issue imho.

Exactly, i know he is a pilot, thats why i said i dont question his skill.
Just his flying in the sim was a bit wonky, but i think it is because he only uses the Thrustmaster joystick, which is not great and very jerky/sensitive for most planes.

I specifically said, “as much as it is realistic, MSFS flight model is not ready”. I know most planes require more or less heavy rudder, but it is clear that MSFS has problems with rudder input. I got used to it and can handle it quite well (no issues with Carenado WACO or Spitfire), but looking at many comments in the forum most people have issues with it and it is not really realistic (too twitchy). Fortunately, Asobo kind of improved it in the recent SU6 (feels much less twitchy).

I don’t say that rudder control in MSFS is 100% realistic - it’s impossible to achieve without proper force-feedback anyway.
What I say is there’s a reason why I have changed from joystick twisting to basic sliding rudders and from that I’ve changed to TPR.
Unfortunately it’s a lot depending on input devices, the simplier the device the more controller tweaking (sensitivity curves, etc) is needed to perform and yes, sim also needs improvement in general.

If this ends up being Marketplace only release, I also won’t buy it. I’m fine with buying marketplace sceneries because they generally don’t need massive / regular updates. Aircraft do though, and for that reason if I can’t get it from a 3rd party I or direct I won’t buy it. Disappointing as I was really looking forward to this one.

I have their CH701 via the website, and was hoping for the same here.

Thanks! I’ll test that out today. That changes everything.

we have to change the files from the official folder to another one? i have tried to put them in the official custom folder but the game tells me that it is not installed and it does not load the scenario.

What MSFS Addon Linker does is allow you to move the files into a folder in a different location and then create a Link between the files in the new location and the original location so it looks to MSFS like the files are still in the original location.

The Link can be easily deleted and recreated as necessary by the MSFS Addon Linker app so you can effectively turn add-ons on and off as you want.

I could not watch most of it. I tried, but here you have a product you’ve supposedly spent months working with and cannot even pronounce the aircraft manufacture’s name correctly or event close to it. Then to listen to him explain how to start it or how the prop works, had me questioning his understanding of the plane itself.

If I did that same presentation to my customers who I am selling the actually plane to, I would not close anything.

I will still buy it though.

I don’t understand the issues with Marketplace. I am sure I will at some point. Why is it harder to create liveries for the aircraft? How is it limiting for Mods? No need to explain here, but if you could point me to threads that expalin this, I am happy to read them.

I will, in short:

  • up to 16 weeks (!) wait time till the releases finally appear for sale on the marketplace!
  • Same for updates, which could be critical and gamebraking after a sim update
  • no receipt for your buys, you can nat prove you bought it
  • encrypted files due to DMR, which limits the ability for mods/liveries

Another dev just today posted on Facebook, he sent the installer for his product on July 27th, still does not appear on the marketplace. So, if SimWorks sends the installer in November to MS, a release could be expected somewhere in february/march
Till then, there would be 1 or 2 SimUpdates, which possibly could render the plane “broken” at release, so the update would appear somewhen in May/jJune

Fortunately, Asobo hired, if I remember correctly, 4 or 6 more people to help the two (yes just two) who were responsible for testing and approving marketplace releases. But with a massive backlog and now also Xbox (doubles the number of releases requiring testing and checking), plus getting out Xbox stuff previously released on PC, it is not sure how long everything will take, but Asobo promises that it will be faster than before. Time will tell.

Was this developer new? As in, he’s trying to get his first product listed on the Marketplace? If that’s the case, then I can see the backlog, but for developers who are established with Asobo, there’s no chance it takes that long.

Thats not true at all. The only dev i know of that gets priority is Aerosoft and ONLY for the CRJ 900/1000 project. As they have a contract with Asobo for that to release it only in their own shop as soon as it appears on the marketplace.

Aerosoft, which is an Asobo Partner, told themself, they DONT have any priority for all the other projects that are not contracted. So, be prepared for a looooong wait if they decide to go Marketplace-Only.

Buddy, you’re claiming it takes 4 months for a product to hit the marketplace. That’s your claim. Prove it.

Here, „Buddy“

And another one for my „buddy“:

Thanks. Add another reason not to use the Marketplace.

The main reason basically. I mean, we could wait for new releases, but if a sim update brakes an addon, waiting several weeks for the update to appear is just horrible customer service.

And with these waiting times it is possible that product updates arrive in the marketplace already outdated.
Unless MS adress this issue the Marketplace is an absolute NO GO for me and most PC simmers. Unbelievable they let it get so bad with the huge XBOX playerbase stuck with marketplace only addons.
