You can take my money right now!
Enjoying a flight in VR with the newest version. Very nice. Thanks for the prompt action on getting the repairs done.
I say, I really like the fact that you can see cargo and/or passengers in the aircraft. Especially in VR it truly adds to the realism. However, is there any chance that you could:
- Somehow randomise the passengers from a bigger set? (Iām beginning to get onto a first name basis with my current very loyal passengers)
- Is it possible to have the passengers āshift aboutā a bit. Kind of like the āco-pilotā does. Man those passengers sit stiff as a board - maybe itās my flying skillsā¦
I realise that this may be quite a bit of work which takes away time from more important stuff (like getting the PC-12 ready), but you know, if you find yourself bored between 3 am and 8 am one day, well, this is a suggestion.
The passengers have been separated from thr aircraft model, so a modder can copy what we did and add different passengers, aliens, bikes, crates or whatever you want in it. We are using the submodel & attachment system in the SDK so everything is replaceable.
JF will see the updates tomorrow and post ASAP. You will have to get them from there.
Any idea when the Marketplace will see the update?
One small thing, for me at least. No matter what I do and irrespective of the variant or livery used, Iām unable to get any cargo visible in the āshelfā at the rear. The weight is accepted (CG indicator moves), but nothing visible. All other cargo and passenger placements appear just fine, except in the Summit, of course. Is there some trick to this?
There is no cargo model present for the shelf. It is moddable, of course, but we never put any in it.
@ArterialComet22 submitted, but when is up to the Marketplace Team.
Ah, that explains it thanks. Someone need to make a few beer crates for that option I think.
Yes, being well hydrated is important while aviating.
There is a problem with the propeller in multiplayer.
The LOD of the propeller is too close. When we are in formation, if we are not too close, the propeller of our wing man seems to be stopped.
Can really feel the effect of carrying those big floats.
Does anyone know a ballpark figure on fuel planning and cruise level differences between the wheeled and the float?
I do use a littlenavmap profile I might just hack it by 20% or whatever if anyone has any idea about fuel usage per mile and change the cruise levels.
I noticed simbrief now natively supports the Kodiak aircraft type as well so will probably want to create something there for IFR G1000 flights.
The floatplane will cruise 7-8% slower than the wheeled plane. So for the same fuel burn you can get 7-8% less range.
edited for correction - I just looked up the Kodiak fuel burn and itās quoted on their website as 33 GPH - almost half what I got with the LHC Kodiak!
ā¦and now find another page saying itās 48GPH - hence the difficulties trying to get accurate data and ending up flying every plane for 60 minutes myself, to find out!
OK, I get it now - 48GPH is for max performance and 33 is for max endurance
Unfortunately it doesnāt give the fuel economy of the float version separately.
apologies for double post - I found this very interesting article that some here may enjoy:
Update now available on Just Flight
Installed the recent updates, but still experiencing low power issues when starting up cold and dark: ITT in red, engine coughing and sounding like a washing machine. Engine power when throttle is to the max still remains 15 %.
These issues, however do not happen when starting hot and running on the runway.
So, what am I doeing wrong?
EDIT:
After vieuwing some videos, it seemed that I made an error during the starting of the engine. And because of that, I blew up the engine, hence the low power and the wierd sounds.
That being clear, I also noticed, that the amphibian is causing stutters (mostly during landing at an airport), pixelation of cloud reflexion on water, and just now: it frooze the game and I had to close it via Taskmanager.
EDIT #2:
When flying other planes, I saw also pixelation of cloud reflexion on water, so, that is not caused by the Kodiak amphibian.
I had the issue a couple of times that the power would drop to unusable levels while going from low to high idle with the ignition off. Switching the ignition back on seemed to fix the problem. But isnāt the ignition supposed to be switched off after engine start? Not sure whatās going on there.
Based on above response Iāve created Simbrief Floatiak profiles adding 8% fuel factor for the cargo pod version, and 7% fuel factor for the no-pod version. Iāve also reduced cruise levels by 2000 feet just because it doesnāt make sense to me flying a float plane so high and weāre going to be taking off / landing at sea level most of the time.
Hereās my profiles if anyone wants to do some IFR:
- Kodiak Float (No Cargo Pod): https://www.simbrief.com/system/dispatch.php?sharefleet=417207_1666003122099
- Kodiak Float (With Cargo Pod): https://www.simbrief.com/system/dispatch.php?sharefleet=417207_1666004078773
- Kodiak Wheels (No Cargo Pod): https://www.simbrief.com/system/dispatch.php?sharefleet=417207_1666004019183
- Kodiak Wheels (With Cargo Pod): https://www.simbrief.com/system/dispatch.php?sharefleet=417207_1665967659103
Difference between float and wheels is the weight (using figures from the SWS manual), the fuel factor and cruise offset.
The main/only difference with the pod is an increased OEW of 175lb. I havenāt set a maximum cargo weight because you can take the seats out and put as much as you want up until the MTOW so just have a mix of pax and cargo to that limit.
Civil Registration I just use an easy identifier to sort my list, itās not a real aircraft registration format and the sim doesnāt use it but change it to a real rego if you prefer.
Havenāt tested these yet as Iāve been VFR, so let me know if Iāve made any mistakes.
Just took the Kodiak 100 Wheeled out for a test rip after the hotfix and WOW not only is the throttle fixed but I just had possibly the smoothest Kodi flight ever zero stutter everything working flawless.
The improvement to handling in the air and ground on multiple surfaces is very noticeable. I am blown away and have to say WELL DONE!
Now if we can get Navigraph API in WT for charts and someone whips up a LOD mod this plane will be a 11/10
PS I found a lil bug for next update. Setting 0 weight does not remove pilot
I will be flying this plane MUCH MORE thank you fellas!
Yes absolutely incredible aircraft and especially the sounds. I have a software that flattens the frequency response of my Sony MDR 7506 headphones so you can get as accurate sounds as possible and the sound in this aircraft blows me away.
No wonder why itās still my most flown GA in my Hobbs log.
