I have the Carendo, and I do enjoy it. I was hoping for the SWS version to improve on that in every way. And so far it hasn’t yet, from what I’m reading. It’s got this crazy yaw behaviour.
Whereas the Kodiak still sounds like a pitchy, twitchy, slightly unstable beast.
Both of these behaviours are choices, not accidents. Because “The Real Airplane Is Like That”. And that’s fine, but that may not translate well to a desktop sim. Simply because of sim limitations, the lack of any physical feedback sitting behind a desk, and any number of other factors.
I’m arguing that, maybe for the sake of playability, those particular more obnoxious behaviours ought to be toned down a bit. I bet very few people, all but the hardest core, are going to argue “look, the real plane handles like trash, please replicate this in great detail”.
People interpret this as ‘dumbing down’ but I don’t agree. The PMDG planes are not dumbed down. The Fenix isn’t. The Black Square planes aren’t. The FSB500 isn’t. And all of them contain desktop and usability concessions.
So yeah, I’m staying away, because I think it would get in the way of my enjoyment.
