SimWorks Studios PC-12 (47 and NG)

I’ve flown an RNAV approach and it captures and follows as expected with the PMS. However I did notice the autopilot did lose control authority as the aircraft speed reduced so it struggled to stay on the GP towards the end. I haven’t tried one with these latest versions of the aircraft and PMS that have just come out, but I will do.

Updated to latest version of PMS50 and this time everything behaved perfectly! Thanks for your input!

After some quick testing with the latest version, I noticed the following issues:

  • When starting from a stand/parking cold and dark, the prop is not feathered
  • Autopilot is still a bit rough and needs some tuning

This plane has quickly become my favorite airplane. Love it so far.

Edit: This issue with the prop does not happen every time, but I would say 50% of the time.

I’ve only got into MSFS this year and the Kodak 100 is amazing but are we likely to see the PC12 on Xbox :+1:or:-1: :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

The pc-12 will certainly come, but they like to iron out bugs on the initial release on pc before putting it on Xbox.

With the latest version i thought id try the 530version for a bit, but 3 flights in a row i couldnt engage nav mode on the auto pilot. tried press NAV button, and CDI on the units, but nothing changed. There was a “TRIM” light, in red, above the AP test button (which works now!) so may be user error too.

couldnt see anything about trim in the autopilot section of manual, but it also said the test button is inop (which its not) so maybe the manuals not updating with the model?

This is also present in the pms750, its also preventing HDG mode too, im sure im missing a step. Anyone know what ive missed, to extinguish the TRIM light?

EDIT: This in the manual, but my Trim is within the Green boxes, and adding trim causes no change to these dials, even if i hold for 20 secs. Not sure what the air/ground switch is either?!

Press the test button on the AP panel and once the trim light goes out the autopilot will work. This is just an AP preflight test like you find in many real autopilot computers. It was only just added in the last release.

Edit . Air/ground just refers to WoW(weight on wheels). It senses when the aircraft is on the ground basically. Some aircraft systems do different things depending on the stste of this.

Oh right, i did notice that the Test worked now, i guess when the lights came on, i turned the test off, before it could initialize the AP, thanks for the help !!!

Why is the green A/P trim light always flashing when the autopilot is on and some pitch mode is engaged? Somehow it seems that the autopilot does vertical adjustments only through elevator trim and not using the elevators itself. I don’t know for sure but that doesn’t make sense to me.

Its there to indicate to the pilot that the AP is trimming the plane, but its in green, so its just saying that its in operation (not red or amber), so you dont need to worry about it

On Xbox we’re limited to very good aircraft. At the moment we have the Caranado PC12, the FRS500 and the SWS PC12 when it comes out then I can decide which to go for as my go to single turboprop :+1::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

The blacksquare TBM850 should be in that convo (not sure if its on Xbox though)

It’s a shame because it looks good, that why I didn’t include it. :+1::cry:

I know that I don’t have to worry about it but I don’t think it’s an accurate simulation of the real autopilot.

according to this video it doesnt flash nearly as much as in the Sim, but you do see it flashing at about 10:15

The Autopilot has to be able to trim. It senses control force from the pitch servo and adjusts trim to bring those forces down just like a pilot does when hand flying. I agree though that I think it flashes too often but I think that’s a sim thing rather than a plane thing. They should be able to improve it though with some filtering.

I don’t doubt that it should flash from time to time, i.e. when the required control forces on the elevators exceed some threshold. But in the PC12 every little vertical correction by the autopilot is done using the trim. It seems like it doesn’t touch the elevator axis at all. That, to me, is just highly unrealistic and it is emphasized by the fact that the A/P trim light therefore flashes all the time.
