Very interested in this release as I’m not familiar with Sky Simulations. Has anyone flown this on P3D?
All I can see is mixed reviews on SimMarket for their P3d products and their own website not showing this MSFS release, either on their home page or product page.
I could be wrong but my initial reaction is be cautious and wait for reviews. Even more so than normal.
i wouldnt get my hopes up too much. looks like a mediocre product at best
I’d love if these guys managed to impress because I want to see a good 717 in sim (they made one for prior sims), but I’m not familiar with them either. Keeping my eyes peeled for a review video! More than likely though, I’ll wait for the TFDi MD-11.
The external model looks ok, not so sure about the cockpit, it looks average at best. If everything is modelled and the flight model is good, then it may be worth it, but that price puts it at or above PMDG and Fenix and it doesn’t look like it’s in that tier of add-on.
Agreed, that price point is pretty extreme for a lesser-known dev. It’s not to say they didn’t put a ton of time and effort into this, but I feel that when you don’t have a reputation like PMDG you can’t come in swinging that hard.
Would love to see a way to separate reality from the marketing hype with these aircraft developers - including Sky Simulations’ MD-11. Having their PDF manual available before purchase would be great so people can read for themselves what’s actually in the product - and how it works - before anyone has to make a risky purchase. For nearly every product you purchase today, software or not, some form of product informational can be downloaded to help with purchase decisions. Why should the simulator world be any different?
Fully agree!
Probably will catch flak for this but I’m out on PMDG these days after the EFB/Simbrief Integration debacle. The 737 series is overpriced for what it is imo.
No flak from me! I have their DC-6 but haven’t bought anything from them since. I agree on their pricing.
I would like to add a payware airliner to my hangar, but I am fully locked in wait-and-see mode until the several airliners under development are launched and initial reviews are available.
The FlyByWire A32NX is primarily the only one I fly at the moment, and what you get from a Freeware plane is frankly unbelievable, but I would love to have a good Boeing plane as a compliment. The Salty 747 fills a small bit of that desire, but the stock 747 was released in such poor shape that it would take a large dedicated team to get it anywhere near the FBW level of completeness.
I am currently watching the Bluebird 757 announcements closely. The models look great so far, and their stated “mid-fidelity” goal suits my more casual flight sim approach. I won’t make any decisions until this is out.
dont forget the a310 from inibuilds coming tomorrow. will (hopefuly) be a gamechanger in long-haul flying
Yes, that’s a good point. I’m holding out some hope that will be a good release. Now, for that Boeing itch I still have…
I can’t wait for the 757! I agree I’m more mid-fidelity than I am deep system simulations that’s why I’m intrigued by this MD-11. Previous reviews suggest it’s on par with the Aerosoft CRJ which is fine with me for that price.
the pmdg 736 may be worth looking into. its the smallest 737 but it has a good price
Yes, when it was on initial early-bird pricing (something like $25 I think?) I seriously considered it. But there’s something about the 757 that is holding my interest very strongly. I think the classic long, slender look and the option for some reasonable long-haul trans-Atlantic flights has too much power over me for some reason.
its a great looking plane, no doubt. but i guess we really need some patience for the bluebird 757. but overall i agree, it looks like a great plane for a big part of the flight simming community.
Ok folks, let’s get this back on track with the topic:
Sky Simulations MD-11
lol…you started the topic about the MD11. I’m not going to read a book with the title ‘Aerodynamics’ and then find it it’s about home decoration.
