So I had the chance to try the plane and yeah, it is absolutely not worth it.
I made a quick video to show you how it sounds but:
BIG DISCLAIMER: I have NO IDEA how to fly this plane and this video is NOT INTENDED to show how it flies, but how it FELT to me in general and the SOUNDS and TEXTURES.
My opinion:
-The exterior model is great, not at Fenix/PMDG level but quite good. The inside textures are pretty bad, with some looking worse than the ones we have in other sims.
-The plane is SUPER sensitive to the point it is ridiculous, any touch of the joystick translates into brutal movements of the plane.
-The sounds are horrendous… Like litterally the worse implementation I have seen in any plane in MSFS.
-Systems seem to work fine and AP did its job, but judging from this video I used to learn the basics (Rotate MD-11 Cold & Dark Startup Tutorial (Simple) - YouTube) a lot of features are not implemented, this is not “study level”.
not just that, they will include several variants. at least the KC-10 (tanker) which was the original plan. Their textures also look much better in its current unfinished state.
this skysim one looks too new and shiny/smooth. IMHO it should have some age showing, even dirt and grime. maybe even soot.
The textures look absolutely horrible and not up to date with what is possible/expected in a modern sim. The simulation could be 100% perfect and I still wouldn’t be able to ignore it.
Although graphics aren’t everything, if stylistically you choose to go for photo realism then you either succeed or you don’t — as it is it sits in this uncanny valley and is absolutely immersion breaking for me.
While I agree, there’s something for everyone on this platform, knowing more about what that “something” is your about to buy is important, too. This MD-11 may be brilliant - to a specific audience, less so for others. I actually think the “features” called out by the MD-11 developer here help to separate the more “casual” simmer from someone looking for something more deeply simulated. The $58 price point says it’s deep. the feature list and reviews say otherwise. But again, your choice how you spend your money!
Hello, so I decided to buy it and no regret although it needs improved FMC. Nice in hand flying and managed to fly a 2.5 hrs flight. Also some animations are just too fast - the external ones EFB needs imrovement too. The sounds are bad, but there is a free soundpack to install - much better. It isn’t worth the money right now, but let’s hope they will finish it some time.

The more I fly this plane the more I like it Just finishing 13 hrs flight KLAX-YSSY .
I made a little fix to FUEL BURN so you don’t need to drop tones of fuel before landing ( originally the model used too little fuel ). No problem with ILS lock and even observed PROFILE (VNAV) approach accurate at EGLL during my previous flight.
There is also enhanced mod on flightsim.to with better textures and colors.

Hi, I was really positively surprised with this plane flight model when it comes to hand flying.
I would say it is on par with PMDG 737. One opinion in this YT movie encoureged me to buy MD-11 and I really don’t regret it despite unfinished FMC.
I tested it on different load config’s and it flies like a dream!
Search net for a better sounpack or textures and wait for development of FMC.
I can say it flies from A to B like KLAX-YSSY
