Since Update 8 I have found that toggling into VR is slow - perhaps 30s - whereas before it was always instant.
Has anyone else experience this?

I do have the same issue sometimes. It freezes the 2D screen for a while before switching to VR.
Only happens with my Quest 2 via Airlink. No issue via Link.
You should change your post category and post it in VR bugs so we can vote for it, and maybe specify your headset. (right now we can’t vote)
But while SU 8 got released, I also got an Oculus software update so I don’t know who is to blame for this.
Note that I didn’t have any slow VR switch issue during SU 8 Beta.
forgot to mention : oculus rift last update…
I’m on a Rift S…my VR hotkey button switches instantly to VR.
Never had an issue switching between VR and 2D.
Always smooth and snappy.

I have the same problem. In fact my whole MSFS experience is very laggy since SU8.
I also lost FPS as when playing with SU7.
Someone suggested that I stop using windowed mode and to switch back to full screen mode. I’ll need to check on to that.
I reinstalled the game entirely and don’t have any slow VR switch anymore. 
I have too freezing switcing in VR but not the first time, when I esc from VR and back again I have this problem. I solved restarting the oculus server from OTT before to enter.
I think this problem is related only to Oculus Quest 2.

This seems to have gone away for me - havent knowingly updated any sofware but have been adjusting for performance (wide range of parameters)
I can confirm that this is an Oculus issue. I’ve it with the VR mod for Cyberpunk 2077 as well.
Sometimes it goes straight to VR, sometimes it takes like 20sec to switch.
I’ve noticed also that opening the Oculus Debug Tool also takes a while when the issue occurs.
But once I’m in VR I don’t have any issue (FPS, lag, etc).
Really weird…
