After a launch that admittedly had/has its challenges, I experienced smooth free flights today (fast startup, no bandwidth warnings, no blurry textures), and I must say the improvements compared to MSFS2020 are impressive.
I like the improved level of detail, realism, and the enhanced performance (I didn’t expect it to be any smoother than MSFS2020). It’s evident that a lot of work and dedication went into this product, that’s what I wanted to acknowledge with this post.
Thanks to MSFS teams at Asobo and Microsoft for your perseverance and commitment to delivering Flight Simulator. Of course, there are server-side sizing issues and various bugs, I’m confident these will be fixed and I’m not worried about that. There’s no doubt the product has a strong core and is built around great ideas, that’s what matter IMHO because it’s much easier to fix these bugs and resize cloud resources than it would be if the product’s features and direction had to be rethought.

It is silky smooth for me, and bugs aside, it is ■■■■ near perfect so far.

Did you have bandwidth warnings and poor startup times before and what’s your internet speed?
Some people with fast internet and good PCs complain of huge loading times, which I have never seen in Australia. So, I think it might be server region specific. So, it isn’t so much their internet speed or PC but the data centre is overloaded. Tough to know, a lot of things can affect streaming performance so there probably isn’t just one answer.
Last night I had some great free flights as well. Sim loaded quickly, much better than MSFS2020. I tried the R66 and H125 helicopters around Sedona and had a blast! Started on the helipad with engines running and just focused on the flying experience. Yes, the sim feels more like a beta at this stage, and the UI for control settings and free flight setup is really bad. But the flying experience itself was wonderful, IMHO.
Getting great performance from an AMD 7945HX (16 core) + 4070ti … when it doesn’t CTD (which on this last flight it did not!) 70fps external / 55-65 in the cockpit around RJTT? I’ll take that any day! Very smooth, TLOD 275, settings all ultra @ 2K window mode …
It works for me, too. Third day in a row logging in without an issue and the flying is BUTTER SMOOTH. Better than 2020. I don’t know what they did to the planes, but the way they feel now is incredible.
