So far, the SU2 Beta is not really "playable" on Xbox

It is almost as if the development team forgets that they supposedly “optimized” the game for Xbox users with the release of MSFS 2024. Now going into SU2 Beta, it has seemed to take 5 or 6 steps back from SU1. Its virtually unplayable in this SU2 Beta’s current state and quite frankly, it hasn’t really been the most optimal experience on Xbox since the release.

Since this is SU2 Beta specific, the performance of the sim, currently when writing this as a Beta 2 “tester”, is extremely lack luster - abhorrent load times both entering the sim to loading a flight, I have experienced maybe 6 or 7 CTD, and a severe drop in graphics and UX with no buildings or scenery even loading beyond 3 or for pixels it seems.

I understand it is a Beta, but even then, shouldn’t there be some sort of check-list that ensures they aren’t delivering a poor(er) product to their paying customers especially since there has already been a SU1.

And… still no exterior lights on the BBJ Max-8

Totally agree with the thread title. Here’s what I posted on the Xbox performance thread:

I was enjoying the fruits of SU1 and grinding away in the 737, now have 180mio cr and ready for the 787 when it unlocks. Supreme LOD.
SU2 drops and it’s the worst version of MSFS of all time it’s a completely disaster on Xbox and numerous CTD reports from the PC mob. Also removing sim rate is baffling, these guys should make the next Elden Ring. Back to SU1.

I am not enjoying it, to be honest.

While LOD does seem improved somewhat, draw distance is still poor, PG detail pops up suddenly out of nowhere, and then pops back out once I pass over objects or areas. Sections of the map around me still load in large tiles as I pan around the camera.

Menu’s are laggy and sticky - in fact, I can’t even change liveries on any plane now, the highlighted livery won’t let me move forward. The game even froze as I pressed X while on the Asobo Hornet to go into fuel loadout.

It’s a mess I think - performance is still hiccuppy and stuttery. t’s just not a good SU2 beta right now although I barely tested it for about half an hour.

Not impressed. Seems to have been rolled out hastily without any testing whatsoever. I get it’s a beta but literally zero testing before release?

Also, are we finally going to get working external lights on aircraft during day or not? It’s almost April, come on!!

Yeh I’m getting longer load times and very poor performance when in flight. Stutters a lot.
I have been enjoying career mode ever since release but now if they have disabled sim rate then I won’t be playing career mode again as who has the time to do realtime flight’s and be there to answer ATC to avoid any penalties. Only reason I’ve been putting up with 2024 is career mode and if they don’t return Sim rate i think I will return back to 2020 for better overall graphical realism and stability on free flights because it’s night and day difference on Xbox at least at how much better 2020 looks and performs over 2024.

Did any of you do this?

Yep read it, not worth it. I’ll jump back on when the LOD is acceptable. Surely they have a massive team they pay for this stuff, I don’t need to telemetry thru stuttering Roblox, which we have all done for 4 months up until SU1.
Besides no sim rate, no career mode

All of this above! Definitely five steps back, absolutely unplayable.

What bothers me the most is that the exterior lights STILL don’t get any attention. Any LED, flash or halogen effect is completely missing. Such a basic element of flying experience… :red_circle::green_circle:

I don’t know how others feel about this but it really, really irks me to not have functional external lights during the day. It really adds to the experience and immersion but Asobo is not giving priority to this.

We’re more than 5 months in. This should no longer be a “thing”.

I agree but you watch a light enhancement will turn up on the MP $15 to get lights and other things that Asobo can’t deliver. Happened in 2020

This simulation is utterly unplayable on Xbox in SU2. Crash to desk top choosing a livery, the a crash to desk top choosing a plane.

Then after I finally made it I was stuck in the clouds like something from GTA 5. Take this game down, fix it and then re release once it complete.

Please!!!

I’ve only had a quick look at this so far on Series X, and have mixed feelings. I had some majorly blurry ground textures on take-off from Pyreegue’s Edinburgh, which is a big step back from SU1.

However, once I was further north, textures were much sharper, the improvement in tree coverage was obvious, with hills and mountains finally appearing treeless as they should be, and even rocks etc. seemed better placed within the environment.

So I think there is definitely potential, and I’m keen to see if later builds improve.

Will give a it a try again later. Rock effects look better in water indeed!

Loading at KPSP took over 5 minutes yesterday. Tried it with a Pilatus Turbo Porter from Blackbird.

This build to tester, it seems like the SU13 that we had on Msfs2020 basically…

I understand that it is a “beta” and this is for discussing and transmitting bugs to fix them, but this beta breaks the performance, I can’t imagine those who play in the XS

Absolutely right. I was really optimistic about the sim going forward after the final release of SU1. I just find it absolutely unfathomable that even in BETA form SU2 can be considered for public BETA consumption. Clearly there has been no consideration in terms of testing for Xbox users. I understand that this is a BETA but prior to public release you would expect some kind of QA. This hasn’t happened.

That is why I tend to avoid betas, I always know there will be regressions day one of them. Like it is mentioned it is day 2 of it so I am sure they are aware of it. On the bright side is you guys are reporting it to them. They have a lot of time and if they take their time with the SU2 like they did with SU1 it should be a good release.

If the beta where to be broken and unplayable still after like 3 updates then it will be worrisome.
