This is a bit of a long winded reply but I think a lot of new users will learn something from my problems.
As a total novice as a gamer of any sort - but an experienced old GA pilot with a reasonably high level of computer expertise as a user, I thought this program was going to be the answer to filling in many enjoyable hours in my retirement.
I had many of the issues that people had previously mentioned on the forums and I did my best to read them carefully and do the recommended fixes. I have a Honeycomb Yoke and the rest of my stuff is Saitek/logitech. I spent around $11,000 all up to make sure everything I bought would do the job.
I had heaps of problems with the Saitek Instrument panels and radios etc but gradually I worked my way though all of the suggestions and basically I thought I had it reasonably under control. I flew a few circuits in a Cessna 152 and then stared to play around a bit more with other aircraft. Then I had all sorts of problems. My son in law is a field IT technician and an avid gamer ( though not a sim player) and he spent many many hours trying to work out what was going on .
Long story short - my brand new $5,556 Alienware computer had 6 intermittent USB 2.0 ports. So it seems a lot of my problems that I was putting down to “Bugs” in the sim were actually due to an intermittment hardware issue.
Moral to the story - DO NOT ASSUME ANYTHING!!
