They need to fix the scenery around the airports. Lots of lumps maybe trees something. At least the B and C airports and D over time.
@IMO x two hundred
Maybe FSX@war gets a release on fs 2020. But shooting down airliners all day just felt wrong, all those innocent people. When flying combat jets people wanna shoot, right? That’s why i think they should leave combat aircraft out of the sim and make a new Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator instead.
I just don’t see that happening anytime within the next year
I’ve experienced this on multiple different planes, intermittently, literally since Aug 18. Thankfully it works ok most of the time for me.
On my system there are currently over a hundred items in content manager awaiting update, including airports, aircraft, landing challenges and training flights. In addition, we are promised the system updates held over from the last patch, and of course the World Update:USA.
I doubt if all of these will materialize, but even so it’s likely to be a lengthy download, and there are bound to be some unhappy users when the inevitable problems appear.
Should all be very interesting.
172G is good, but with G1000mod is better.
Still needs a lot of work on the 172/208. It always seems to overshoot the target and waver back and forth. I don’t think VNAV is working yet. AP just turns off for absolutely no reason. Lots of funtionality is still missing.
Regarding keeping DX 11/12 support / Minimum Requiements etc.
I see a lot of lack of understanding, and confusing statements regarding above, so I thought I would give a few bullet points to help (I am not part of MS/Asobo, just a dev/gamer)
-
Runs on / supports DX 12… the game already technically runs on DX12 (thats what most of us have installed, check with dxdiag), what you mean is designed for, or made for DX12.
-
Designed for DX12 requires a different way of coding to take advantage of some of the features of DX12 not in DX11, just as Multi CPU. Not all “DX12” games use all features
-
P3d may “support” DX12, but you cannot compare it with any other game, as we dont know how in depth that support is to compare it to MSFS
-
Minimum Requirements are just that. The absolutel minimum requirements for a product to run, with anything less either not working, or not supported. It doesnt mean that you can run at 4k with ultra highh frame rates, etc, just the absolute minimum features required on your hardware to run the product, as a BASELINE.
-
Recommended Specs are also just that. its what will give a satisfactory performance for most users. Anythign above or bellow will degrade/enhance your experience. Your milage will vary.
-
It is unlikely they will maintain DX11 support when they transition to DX12. Already the minimum requirements has Graphics cards processors that ARE DX12 spec. Trying to keep separate code bases for DX11 is not practical.
-
For those who are currently able to run despite being on DX11 spec or less than the minimum specs, there is no guarentee that it will continue to work in the future, so please dont complain if a future update “breaks” something.
-
Its unlikely that moving to DX12 whilst keeping the same graphical settings is going measurably impair perfromance vs dx11 (unless there is a bug which will be corrected), as you are already likely on DX12 anyway.
-
Of course any transition to DX12 or any other update may bring a new optional feature for newer components (such as Ray Tracing) that may not work or perfrom poorly on your (possibly older) device. That is not somethign to complain about! I know it sounds obvious, but I have seen such complaints before!
I hope some of the more important stuff finally gets addressed. But I’m afraid those will probably never get enough votes to even make it into the top bugs or wishlist as visuals seem to be much more important than fundemental flaws…
Great for the USA update. I’d love to see the world elevation update.
You guys are funny with all your expectations for a $60 piece of software
I mean, yeah, it’d be super awesome if it was as good as a $3000 simulator or a $250,000 simulator (oh, wait, it’s better than a lot of them I’ve used), but, oh well. Asobo never, ever said it was finished when it was released, I don’t know where people got that idea, have you watched the developer’s Q&A’s? They’re telling you what they’re working on. In fact, the list is right there at the top of this post.
There’s a few guys and gals writing some code, basically hardly any testing currently, even though they recognize that would be nice. But then again, which do you prefer… REALLY prefer… No more updates for another 6 months to year, and a lot slower development, or the chance to have even more fun?
Be totally honest. Anyway, I’m having a blast, and just got recertified to fly again today after a 19 year layoff, and part of the motivation was this software… Have a great day!!!
P.S. I absolutely LOVE what the user community is doing to help Asobo out, absolutely amazing work being done!
Brilliantly said! People are forgetting it’s a 60 pound/dollar program and comparing it to a multi thousand dollar professional simulator.
Fs2020 is brilliant for what it is… And is likely to always improve. But let’s be realistic, and a little less entitled perhaps?
Yep. I mostly fly VFR and have had a wonderful time flying this sim (the Pitt’s is a blast and now the Aermacchi MB-339 jet trainer from IndiaFoxtEcho is a must own add on). I do miss gliders, as they are a passion in RL, both full scale and RC models, but we can’t have it all yet. Flight Simulator is just light years ahead of the competition at the moment and will only get better. So what if your AP is missing a function, go fly manually while it gets fixed. Personally I’ve always found AP flying rather ho hum, so each to their own.
I note that in the latest blog [BLOG] November 19th, 2020 Development Update, only one item from the top bugs/wishes lists is scheduled for release in 2020 - the “Dreadful performance” will be “Partially Fixed” in update 7, this presumably being the improvement delayed from update 6.
Some items are not scheduled till 2022, and several more not scheduled at all.
There seem to be many mods likely to happen in update 7 (see my post above), and I’m sure many of these will be appreciated. However, I do get the feeling the devs are really following their own instincts, rather than taking into account the users’ stated desires.
In which case, what is the point of having the voting system?
There’s a simple solution to the bugs in updates. A proper beta system, like X-Planes. So anyone who wants to take the risk of the latest and greatest, plus some volunteers, can try the next update on a larger scale than the developers can on their own. You do this knowing it might break the autopilot or whatever.
Beta can then report problems back to the developer, who can decide whether or not to release it.
It’s not difficult. Microsoft do it with Windows.
i hope they fix the switches at portover´s,they work before last update
Agree with alot of this, they are very short on real solutions for the bulk of problems
I expect Alaska. There’s no NA without Alaska Kappa
…it’s a relatively cheap programme that people moan a lot about yet will spend 1000’s on the hardware to run it on..
enough said.
