Are you on Steam or Microsoft Store version?

Steam version.

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?
No

Brief description of the issue:
Basically what happens is that whenever it detects I am in online mode and when I try load any flight and play in literally any airport the game will just hang up and freeze on the loading screen after pressing fly and it will be shown in task manager as not responding.

The same thing also happens if I load the plane into the airport with offline mode and then turn back online mode which causes the freezing to appear again and strangely enough sometimes the not responding error disappears for a few seconds where I am able to move my camera for like 2 seconds then it goes back into displaying the not responding error.

Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:

It always get’s stuck like in the image above me and there is no way to shut the program down like normal by closing down the window and I cannot move the window either so I have to kill it through task manager every single time.

As for the things I have tried once I found out what caused the freezing.

Well I have tried clearing out my steam download cache and I cleared my steam cloud data for mfs2020 several times and it did not do anything at all and I also reinstalled the game numerous times
in hopes of fixing the problem.

I have no mods on my computer or in my community folder.

Windows is on Windows 10 version 21H2 which is the latest version.

Nvidia drivers are completely up to date.

I even made a completely new Microsoft account which also failed to solve the issue.

I checked my antivirus which is Eset to see if it was causing any problems which it was not doing.

Detail steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

Literally all you have to do is to start a flight on the sim with online mode enabled using any plane type and often it will also freeze before even pressing the fly button when choosing certain airports such airports in Australia where it zooms onto the airport and the runway which causes me to have to shut it down with task manager .

PC specs and/or peripheral set up of relevant:
I have the i7-10750 processor ,rtx 2060 graphics card,16 gigs of ram and 1 terabyte ssd storage.

In terms of pheripherals I have an usb mouse and I use the keyboard on my laptop and I also have a thrustmaster joystick and an xbox one gamepad for pc.

Build Version # when you first started experiencing this issue:

My build version is version 1.21.13.0

Did you submit this to Zendesk? If so, what is your ticket #?

My ticket id that I sent to zendesk for the issue is 135283.

I started encountering this issue like at least 5 weeks ago before the lastest update dropped but back then I was not aware of what was causing the problem so I went on a wild goose chase all over the internet trying to fix the problem only now a couple of days ago did I figure out that going online was what caused the issue in the first place.

Also this is my first post to the forums which I was reluctant at first in terms of if to sign up or not but now it appears I have no choice but to ask in these forums for help because I have asked on both reddit and in the mfs2020 discord server for support and either got no answer or I could not solve the issue and I am sick of not being able to play mfs2020 for this long because of what I suspect is a bug or some kind of server/internet related issue.

@Flightdemons A very warm welcome to the forums.

I, too, have encountered the problem of the sim freezing and becoming unresponsive in task manager while loading a flight, in the past. A ‘fix’ that worked for me might be worth a try on your end.

I see you using steam, so I won’t have the exact path for you. However, somewhere in this directory

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator
will be a directory called SceneryCache

In that folder are a lot of scenery index files, ending in .dat

Try deleting those and re-run MSFS. It will rebuild those files on the next run.

It has fixed my issue, previously. However, no promises.

I actually tried that fix today after reading about it online and unsurprisingly it did not work
but thanks anyways for replying and I hope that I can find a fix for it soon enough
and also those files have not yet reappeared in that folder after I deleted them and ran the sim.

I am afraid of trying to verify the integrity of the game files on steam because of the bug where it deletes the entire game.

Another possibility, not explicity stated in your opening post. Do you use rolling cache? Sometimes this is saved outside of the sim location and so a re-installation will not delete that file.

If you do, try deleting and disabling rolling cache under options>general>data and see if that does anything.
(I am not promising I will have any fixes for you… I hope when the solution is found it can be shared, however!)

I tried that a few times and it also did not work

I found the solution and basically what you need to do is to
go into the hosts file directory at C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
and edit the hosts file using any text editor of your choice as administrator
and make sure to remove the following lines
127.0.0.1 kh.ssl.ak.tiles.virtualearth.net
127.0.0.1 khstorelive.azureedge.net
In case you have been using the google maps mod for mfs2020 but forgot about it or deleted it but forgot about the hosts file entry it left behind this is what caused the freezing issue for me and I hope it helps you out.
