Some airports load fine, others don't

Hi all,

I’ve been loading some third party payware airports into the Sim via MSFS Addon Linker (2024 version). Though all links have been created correctly in the Community folder, some airports won’t load while others load fine.

In the Sim library, the ones that don’t load are marked as ‘Not available’ (though the link exists in the community folder). The ones that load fine are marked as ‘Installed’.

Has anyone else had the same problem and a solution for that? There seems to be no way to activate airports in the Sim if they are marked as ‘Not available’.

Thanks,
Christian

I figured that it’s the airports that I bought via the MSFS 2020 in-Sim store that are showing as ‘disabled’ in MSFS 2024 … and now way to enable them.

Anyone have the same problem?

Yes I have a quite a few that are disabled which ■■■■■■ me off , plus I have a freeware (LEMG) that ported over but all the apron is Pink , although you can land there and all the taxiways , buildings etc are all fine , its the apron that is just bad.

I went into the Orbx Store last night and Contrails too , if you have purchased airports from there stores depending on who the Dev is , they are doing free upgrades to certain airports for MSFS 2024 and are all good , but those are few and far between , still lots of airports that are disabled on msfs2024.

If you have been organising your msfs2020 airports externally (like I do) I had many marketplace airports copied out of the Official fs2020 folder and linked back in with AddOnLinker to fs2020 via community folder. This worked fine for fs2020, BUT the encryption/drm of those marketplace bought airports specifically ties them to being used in fs2020. They can’t ever be used in fs2024 except by a new download (or being streamed) in fs2024. Which they currently haven’t enabled for us yet.
Airports bought outside ofnthe mrketplace with no encryption/drm show up fine in fs2024 via Community folder.

Ah, thank you!

I guess then the only way to use those airports is to wait until Microsoft have opened up the marketplace, which then hopefully syncs with what we have purchased in the MSFS 2020 marketplace?

They havent opened up the Marketplace for us to go download these again (and that is going to be painful to do with my broadband!).
But as of last night’s patch (not listed as one of the changes in release notes) they have opened up enabling the airports (not other add ons yet) in the My Library part of the Marketplace so they can now be streamed.
It works too, but requires a sim reboot after selecting what you want to enable. They are listed under “MSFS2000” filter.

I don’t know if this is part of the same problem, but my copy of Impulse Simulations Coffs Harbor won’t load even though it’s in the 2024 community folder. Can’t remember where I bought it from though…

Go dig or search into the sub directories of that airport and if you encounter a “.fsarchive” file(s) extension it came from the FS2020 Marketplace. The “.fsarchive” is the drm/encrypted part of the scenery.
Alternatively go into FS2024 My Library and do a search for your airport there as it should now be showing in FS2024 in a list of airports which can now (since last night’s patch) be enabled (for streaming) if it was bought in MSFS2020 marketplace.

Thank you. I clicked ‘Enable’ for my airports (which wasn’t possible before, you’re right!) but after restarting the Sim, they still show as ‘Disabled’ and are not visible when I spawn at the airports in the Sim. Strange, I guess I’ve run out of options for now.

They are showing for me. Did you remove the links of your previous attempt to link them in with Add On Linker? Any links to those fs2020 airports still present in your fs2024 Community folder would override the streamed versions so remove them in add on linker.

Great, thanks. It works now.

(Though I would much rather have the Sim access the airports from my hard drive as streaming often leads to blurred textures … maybe the option to have airports accessed from the hard drive comes when the marketplace is online.)

I also found this other thread that deals with the same problem. Access to Marketplace Purchases that Dev's confirmed as working w/ 2024 - #8 by dialtech1973

Yes this is coming with the marketplace release. Its going to be a joyful time over my slowish ADSL connection. I do hope their market place download speeds are better than they still currently are in fs2020. I’m not amused at having to re-download them all tbh and all because of drm/encryption.

This was kind of my issue when I looked into it; I’d unthinkingly transferred most of my 2020 community folder over to 2024, forgetting that a number of those airports were actually marketplace purchases. Any that were, were duplicated as disabled by 2024’s library system. Removing them from the community folder enabled them again by 2024 as streamed.

Edit: but doesn’t apply to all, Marketplace SCEL doesn’t stream for me although it says it is streaming.

Yeah I also found that some airports that I definitely bought via MSFS 2020 marketplace don’t even show up in MSFS 2024 now (though all others work). Out of my 16 marketplace airport purchases, 13 are now streamed, but 3 aren’t recognised by MSFS 2024 (they don’t show up in the list). I’ll wait until the marketplace is live in MSFS 2024 and hope that will be fixed then.
