Why is BATC assigning me (very often) a visual approach - even in nonVFR conditions - while there IS actually an IFR approach available?
Sometimes BATC is asking me to head to a specific heading during departure - but before it had given me a SID which I am following… Why would the ATC now deviate from the SID and send me to some non-sensical heading?
On my current flight BATC told me to descend to 1300 ft (visual approach again…) only to then correct 30 seconds later to descend to 4000 ft… wtf? It went back and forth between 4000 and 1300 feet multiple times??
Yes, it’s how BATC works unfortunately. Some people will claim it’s the best addon for MSFS but they will fly between the same airports over and over again where BATC works flawlessly, by pure coincidence. Only a few days ago I was landing at CYXS with clouds at 200ft AGL and BATC cleared me for visual approach.
After using it for almost a year I learned that you ignore its ridiculous instructions, especially during descend. Follow the charts and don’t listen what ATC says. BATC won’t even say anything if you descend 5,000ft below the level they cleared you to.
Yeah. The more I used it the more I was disappointed. If I didn’t climb to 12k. I would have slammed into a mountain. Flying hdg 10 out of an airport 10 nm away it told me turn heading 190. When my next waypoint was straight ahead. Traffic often won’t start, and many server connection issues. And honestly, with the default voices, it really isn’t much different from the stock ATC.
Why would you say something like this? You have no idea about what we plan and our discussions with the BeyondATC team. I really find it hard to understand some users on this forum.
I think both are doing a great job. Can’t wait to see what is coming.
Some day I might even fly the pmdg 747 using BATC :).
BATC is not perfect but far far better than anything I have ever used on any Flightsim so half way there is better than no way. SI is also nice but I prefer the options to use manual buttons if I can’t get it to understand my voice.
You are for sure entitled to your opinion, but why do you think your post was a valuable contribution to this discussion? I just do not understand these kinds of comments that only seem to be there to provoke reactions. It’s hard enough to have a meaningful conversation on forums like this without unfounded ‘opinions’.
Thanks! Yes - I feel that BATC is somhow “failing” at a rate of maybe 30% or so - but it’s still nice to use
Also - i got this hint from BATC discord: De-install and Re-install your navigraph db via Navigraph Hub. It can cause issues with BATC. I think it helped in my case - no more visual approaches so far!
