Some VIP Charter Route Too Long to Complete Mission

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
Some route of VIP Charter missions are too long for provided aircraft to complete. If you try to complete these mission without skipping, the aircraft will run out of fuel and make mission failed.

I have checked the operating range of PC-12, PC-24 and CJ4 and they all match the official specifications. However, when flying in game, PC-12 can fly at most around 2200km and PC-24 can fly at most around 2400km.

UPDATE:
(1)For PC-12, if you fixed the oxygen issue (in any way) and cruise at FL290, with no head wind, it is possible to complete mission without running out of fuel.
(2)For PC-24, there is a reported bug in another topic saying the fuel consumption of this aircraft is doubled.

As for CJ4, I have no idea. It says it could fly 4000km but no such mission is allowed for this aircraft.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
about 50% of chance when choosing missions. Every time when running on these missions.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

1.Find a VIP Charter mission longer than 2500km, no matter in Employee or Freelancer mode. The operation time shown for these missions is usually longer than 10 hours.
2.Choose aircraft. Usually only PC-12 and PC-24 can be chosen. Cessna CJ4 which has the longest operation range cannot be chosen, and I don’t know why. (Longitude cannot be chosen as well since this aircraft does not support career mode yet)
3. Add fuel to 100% before starting the mission.
4. Fly the mission.
5. Do not skip at any time (unless you want to cheat to save fuel).
6. Try all your aspect to save fuel during flight. (PC-12 can only fly below FL190)(I have not tested CJ4 yet, but CJ4 seems okay if you can choose it)
7. You will always run out of fuel before reaching destination.

Please add a screenshot or video of the issue occurring.

This is a example. This mission can only choose PC-12 and PC-24. You will always run out of fuel before reaching destination.

I have tried a career mission from VVGL to VQPR, which is even shorter than ZSFZ to VQPR shown above, with PC-24. I ran out of fuel near VANM2 and had to abort mission. I flew this mission with cuise altitude of FL320.

I tried the VIP Charter mission from VTBL to Mumbai (I forgot which the exact airport is, perhaps VABB) and ran out of fuel in the middle of India. (PC-12 even ran out of fuel on the east coast of India). These flights are done before the official release of SU1. I flew PC-24 at FL440 and flew PC-12 at FL190 this time.

AI Generated:

To maximize fuel efficiency in a Pilatus PC-12, focus on maintaining a lighter load, flying at the optimal cruising altitude (around 28,000-30,000 feet), utilizing a constant airspeed, avoiding unnecessary power surges, and planning routes that minimize wind resistance, all while considering the specific weight and payload of your flight.

Key strategies:

  • Load management:

    • Only carry the necessary passengers and cargo to minimize weight.
    • Distribute weight evenly within the aircraft for better balance.
  • Altitude optimization:

    • Fly at the recommended cruising altitude (usually around 28,000-30,000 feet) where air resistance is lower.
  • Flight profile:

    • Maintain a constant airspeed to minimize fuel burn.
    • Avoid abrupt power changes and unnecessary acceleration.
  • Route planning:

    • Choose routes with favorable winds to minimize headwinds and maximize tailwinds. .

I know this is AI generated but most of the information could be right and is Helpful. Did try to fly 20FL and got the warning I better descend or risk mission failure. So this hasn’t been fixed yet and we could probably go farther and not use as much fuel. So yes the missions right now for this is almost impossible to complete without cheating, IE (add Fuel button). I figured they would of fixed this bug when the released the SU but I guess not.

Happy Flying All

Hi.
As for PC-12, I have got two ways to handle this problem.

One is installing a mod found in flightsim.to to counter the oxygen problem to PC-12. When cruising at FL280, this plane can hang in the sky much longer.

Second is flying missions towards east (in China and South-East Asia) to gain the tail wind for fuel efficiency.

Cheers.

Thank you for the bug report.

We have created an internal ticket to see if our team already has this logged, and if not they will attempt to reproduce the issue and create a new bug report. This item is now marked as feedback-logged. If there is an existing bug report or one is created, we will move this thread to bug-logged.

On a side note, skipping should end up with an appropriate fuel burn and not be a work-around when presented with an excessively long mission.

That said, we should not have to spend 5+ minutes using the EFB to find out that a mission is unflyable due to range, conditions, runway length, destination is not an airport, etc.
