i was flying skiathos to Gatwick earlier and for the first time ever i had a BSOD
i noticed i wasn’t far from Paris but restarted flight using 4x to get back to my original position same thing happened tried a 3rd time with a different flight plan almost exact same milage from paris another BSOD
lets be clear this isnt Flightsim crashing but the whole computer being taken out i wouldn’t considier MSFS to be the cause only that it happened at the approx same place 3 times
BSODs are almost always indicative of a hardware failure with your PC, such as a bad stick of RAM, an overheating CPU/GPU, or an issue with your power supply.
MSFS itself will not cause a BSOD; at worst, you’ll crash to desktop without an error message. If you’re getting a consistent BSOD at the same location in the sim, my first thought is that MSFS is trying to write data to a bad sector of RAM or you’re flying over a location that is really taxing your system and causing your system to overheat.
Since you mentioned this is happening near Paris, which is a very high-density area with lots of scenery, it wouldn’t surprise me if this is causing your system to overheat. You could try experimenting by flying over some other really high-density areas like Manhattan to see if that also causes you to get a BSOD.
While i would normally agree with you i’m 99% certain this is NOT the case
length of time pc is on or has been flying is different happens at exactly the same position geographically on a flight, it is not overheating .
have flown over london which has a ton of PG and new york and no problems i currently have no addon installed around paris
This used to happen to me but anywhere where the GPU was pulling in the watts. I upgraded my PSU to 1000w, zero BSODs since. Previous PSU was only 4 years old and a decent one at that, being a Seasonic but it had been hammered by FS2020 for the last 3 so no wonder it was goosed.
sadly not original flight was under 1x second flight was 4x to get me to where i could continue then 1x third flight was 4x all the way
aircraft was 320 Neo default i crashed 190 nm from dieppe vor approaching Paris from the south East i do have further updates to this but i want to run one more test first
Admitedly Power supply was my first thought and if i replace any hardware that will be first im quite aware of how funky system issues can be caused by a faulty power supply
Tomorrow is the 14th of July, French national day, and as every year there are additional flight restrictions in the Paris area.
What’s more, in light of recent events, everyone is on high alert.
So you’ve certainly been the victim of a ground/air missile or shot down by a Rafale.
Hello @secretfarmerGal ,
Sorry to hear about the BSOD. We ask that people not use General Discussion for help, advice, or troubleshooting. I moved your post to Tech Talk , which is the best place to discuss BSODs.
Best of luck!
