Something Ive noticed when trying to use AI Flightplans and AI Aircraft

Note:- Not sure if this is the right section of the forums for this but here goes.

Ok for the past week straight I have been messing around with AI Aircraft and Flightplans.
I first used the World of AI Packages and replaced FS9 Aircraft with FSX Aircraft models so they would work. I had done Ryanair, British Airways and Emirates.
First thing I noticed was the game loads only one model with one texture. Therefore it wouldnt load an Emirates A380 and a BA A380 at EGLL at the same time. So made second copies of the files and renamed them for each airline.
Thus I had one folder for Emirates and one for BA. I renamed the MDL’s to say UAEA380 or BAA380 as well as the air files and pointed the aircraft.cfg’s at those and removed all other Fltsim.x references in the aircraft.cfg so each aircraft.cfg had only the fltsim.0 for the respective airline.
This worked I had a BA and Emirates A380 show up at EGLL. So I did it for all the Airlines I had done.

Next problem was a little different I went and sat above the tower at OMDB with ATC running. I heard an Emirates flight request Pushback clearance and it was approved, suddenly followed by 4 more within less than a couple of minutes. I had 5 Aircraft all taxiing at the same time. It was causing havoc on the taxiway.
So I opened up the BGL with AIFP and went to Timetable and pulled up OMDB and I noticed there were five aircraft all going to the same destination all within a minute of each other. Each was a different flightplan though. Then I noticed that each one was for a different day of the week and set to repeat on 24hr. So I then opened up the MSFS AirTraffic.bgl and had a look at that. Everything was set to Weekly. There I had my answer and my next adventure began. Did I have a Traffic Program that uses Weekly Flights. I reinstalled UTLive and opened up the BGL and yup that uses Weekly not Daily Flights and all the aircraft MDL’s are MDLXMDLH so I am now in the process of converting everthing over, however some of the textures are really poor so those aircraft and or textures will need to be upgraded.

Conclusion

Use only Weekly Flightplans not daily to avoid MSFS loading in every flight for the week at once. I.e make sure S,M,T,W,T,F,S are all ticked in the flightplan not just one day for that flightplan.

To have different liveries show up for a particular aircraft model you need multiple copies of that aircraft with its own respective livery i.e. One folder named British Airways A380 and another named Emirates A380. So in my Community folder I have a base folder for each aircraft type I have converted e.g A380, 772 etc. Inside those folders I have SimObject/Airplanes as per normal then folders for each livery ex British Airways, Emirates etc etc etc.

Yes its a lot of work but so far the only way I have found to get multiple Liveries for a particular Aircraft type to show up and not have 2 to 7 aircraft all taxiing going to the same destination at the same time.

Hope this helps some of you working with Flightplans and AI Aircraft.

EDIT you could also do it by having multiple model folders for and aircraft type with multiple texture folders. i.e. model.BA model.UAE etc etc but you still need to rename each mdl file respectively or it wont work…

Check this. If you don’t have an account I suggest that you make one. It’s free.

AI Traffic in MSFS (Some kind of rough tutorial - the risk is all yours) (alpha-india.net)

I use the Legacy Converter it does alot more. However this is about getting around MSFS only loading one Livery per model and how it reads flightplans.

Yeah, I know, I have applied multiple configuration files to most of my planes. At aig you can find lots of fsx convertions (which work in MSFS) of various models done after permission from the modellers (TFS, HTAI, DWAI etc), available to download for your own use. AIG team is also in the process of converting models to MSFS native (there are models done, but they are not publicly available yet), but without proper SDK yet, the progress is very slow and very cautious. I transfered most of my p3d setup (AIGAIM-OCI) to MSFS and replaced p3d models with fsx. I have been doing tests of the program for AIG (for MSFS, still pre-alpha, but will get there sooner or later-probably later, don’t get hyped). Here is a sample.

I have a massive collection of FAIB, TFS etc etc etc Aircraft. Alot of them I have found used in various AI Traffic programs I own. Probably would be alot bigger if I hadnt lost my old FSX Drive due to failure as I had stuff on there going way back. Some of it I will never see again the rest I have and can redownload from Avsim Flightsim.com etc. The textures on the planes in UTLive are easliy replaced or adjusted in photoshop anyway. Its just very time consuming but worth it all in the end.
Dont know why they changed the way MSFS reads flightplans though they should have left it like FSX. That way the WOAI and AIG Flightplans would all be fine and there wouldnt be upto 7 aircraft all departing at the same time from the same airline for the same destination lol.
They should have also left it so that MSFS can load more than one livery per model at the same time like FSX did. I dont even see the logic in why they did that when they knew we all use Custom AI Flightplans and Liveries such as WOAI AIG etc etc.
Guess its the same old thing as most game companies, let the modders fix it lol.

Manual installation is very tedious and time consuming unfortunately, especially now that they changed the format somehow. Unfortunately (or fortunately perhaps), MSFS is a work in progress. Imagine changing your setup to the new format, and then ASOBO update the SDK, and perhaps they revert to the old format (not likely, but who knows?). AIGAIM-OCI although freeware, took a lot of time to be developed for p3d, that is why the developer (Kai), and the rest of the modellers and collaborators at AIG are waiting for the SDK to take a final (or a more stable) form, before they commit more time and resources to MSFS. Don’t forget that there is also real life for most of them (and us) out there.

Yeah thats crossed my mind and I dread the thought of it happening lol. Luckilly for me I start work at 4am and finish by 10 usually so have a good bit of time left in a day to do these things even if I do work upto 6 days a week.
If UTLive2 develops into UTLiveMSFS Id be very happy though as it would save me redoing things if that did happen.

I was calling it FSLive as its early in the morning and not enough coffee yet.
