- What F18s ?
- What Pelicans ?
- What model files ??
how did they get deleted ??
how did they get deleted ??
no, i never installed the pelican in the first place so they’re generic models for me. I have no real interest in flying it (yet).
The advantage of Installing the Pelican and then deleting it’s Model files, is that then the Pelican will then be Transparent, and not show up as another plane, (as it will if you do not have the “GHOST” Pelican)
I’ve not tried that. I hope it doesn’t render only a seated pilot in an invisible plane, Wonder Woman style.
Yes, this has my vote! It seems like there should be a way to integrate orbital physics into the sim. I mean, this sim is supposed to be physics based, right? This would be beyond cool!
Hi everyone!
I’m the author of the SpacePort project @SkyLaneFS mentioned. Come September, we will endeavor to expand SpacePort to support MSFS2020 and work around the altitude limit by editing the FS environment to create an orbital “shell” with a thickness of about 24 km. However, it won’t be as realistic nor as robust as the 30,000 km altitude limit in FSX and P3D! Having native support from the platform would be very preferable to having to do a workaround.
Glad to see you there!
I hope that Asobo increases the limit
That would be cool! Maybe you could fly to space in the darkstar! A scramjet is essentially an airbreathing rocket engine!
Oh boy, you went down that rabbithole, did ya?
It has been brought to my attention by a user via PM that a “drone camera” has no altitude limit:
Does anyone have any more info on this, or any experience? I am thinking that only objects categorized as “aircraft” may have this limit, where as other objects may not. If true, this could be huge.
Mod Edit: Moved from General Discussion into this Wishlist item since they coincide closely.
Does anyone know if and when a space update/add-on by Asobo or any other developer going beyond the altitude limit of 275,000 ft will be released? I attached a screenshot. This was taken in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. I think it should be possible.
What’s the point? This is a flight simulator and you cannot fly (using aerodynamics) in space. The physics involved, and the operational procedures, are fundamentally different.
If you want to go to space, there are appropriate sims for that, but I do not see how it would benefit anybody to stick this into MSFS, because MSFS is not at all well-suited to this and I’d rather MSFS first gets atmospheric flight on Earth wrong before going into space.
It would be cool for a small amount of users but i wouldn’t want Asobo to take away resources from other vital parts of the game to work on space.
Star Citizen will keep you busy for another decade if you want space.
Not really a sim, from what I know.
I’d point at Kerbal Space Program first, it doesn’t look like much but is pretty good at orbital mechanics and stuff.
Don’t quote me but one of the devs floated the idea of a space shuttle on a Q/A
There used to be an official Space Shuttle for one of the X-Planes, but it only simulated the aerodynamic flight between re-entry or landing. So, uh, the part that isn’t in space.
If there will ever be a Space Shuttle for MSFS I’d wager the same restriction would apply, because everything else would require a bunch of physics systems which I assume just aren’t there at the moment.
(Also, from what I’ve gathered in the DC Designs Concorde thread, even delta wings on normal planes require a lot of workarounds.)
Oh i agree it isn’t a sim regardless what it’s marketed as, but it’s a lot of game with a lot of space, with only much more to come.
Oh, it’ll still be in Alpha by then.
Orbiter is free and has scores of mods, and KSP2 is due to drop I think next year.
Maybe this would work via DosBox
Nice idea, but last thing Asobo need to be doing is adding more stuff that won’t work properly for 2 years. Need to get everything else running good first before we start doing warp 9 in the enterprise looking for Klingons or racing the Borg cube about…
