As you can use speed commands in WMR i’m wondering whether this is possible while flying in VR. I 'm using the G2 and in VR pressing the windows button of the G2 controller a popup window appears which allows me several nice things like taking a photo, start and stop recording and using the flashlight.
In WMR these commands can also be used with speech recognition and it would be perfect if this would be possible in VR mode too (without the additional popup using the G2 controller).
I.e. if you can say “flashlight on” and it shows your desktop so that you can use keyboard or reach controller and finish this with “flashlight off” Alternatively can you remap the controller windows button to the mouse or to a key on my flight stick?
Good question. From time to time, I’ve seen the little voice popup box come up that says “Select”, telling me that WMR mistook some background noise for me using the command, but insofar as I’ve been able to tell, nothing has come of it.
But if it’s somehow possible to set a command to take a photo of what I’m seeing in the Matrix, that would be very nice, especially since to date I’ve been completely unable to find a way to do that at all.
So I’ll shut up now and see if someone smarter than me comes along with an answer.
Taking a photo or recording a video is very easy with the help of the VR Controller. As i wrote pressing the Windows button of this controller brings up a popup where you can select a photo, a camera or the flashlight in the bottom-line of this popup. This works fine but i want to call this commands (“take a photo”, “start/end recording”, “flashlight on/off”) direkt from the cockpit without taking the controller…
Maybe checkout VoiceAttack.
That, in its original state, will allow you to program voice activated commands and, perhaps more interestingly, is also able to host custom made profiles, freeware or payware, that allow far more complicated voice interactions. Maybe take a look at VAICOM Pro, which in short, allows you to do all of the DCS radio comms using voice rather than via menu selections.
I use VoiceAttack. Works very well and is extremely versatile.
I use it for radio comms, but unfortunately because the various comms aren’t always in the same ordinal position on the menu, I mostly have to select them by saying, “choice 1”, “choice 2”, etc. It would be great if Asobo were to someday assign unique key combos to each of the comm choices, then it would be possible to create more meaningful & immersive voice triggers for them.
@PiperPilot4949, yes, but when I tried that MSFS went away and it brought me back to the cliff house. Perhaps I’m doing something wrong? I dunno, no sooner do I think I’m starting to get this VR stuff when something pops up that makes me feel like a retard.
…then you press the Home Button instead of the Windows Button.
I have been using Voice Attack with the Virtual Voyager v1.1 profile that I have modified to match my needs when I stream MSFS on Twitch in VR.
This profile allows me to do most of what I do with touch controllers in X-Plane until that support is also available in MSFS.
That’s excellent thanks.
Unlike DCS, where most of the aircraft are single-seat and such commands would, for me at least, break the immersion, the MSFS aircraft mostly have a co-pilot, so the commands would not be thought of as being directly to the aircraft but to the co-pilot.
The only downside I can see is that I am possibly going to get lazy and let the co-pilot do all of the flying.
This app crashes during installation.
I am also using Voice Attack with a modified version of Virtual Voyagers Profile till we get proper touch controller support like we have in X-Plane.
When that happens I will rarely be using voice commands.
I also started off with a very basic VoiceAttack profile just to deal with the ATC menu options (OPTION ONE, OPTION TWO, OPTION THREE, etc).
I bought and installed the HCS Aviator voicepack yesterday and it seems to do what it says on the tin.
I didn’t get too much time to try it out though, as i had to reinstall VoiceAttack, Vaicom Pro and my other HCS voicepacks, due to a recent reinstall of Windows.
I had also forgotten to export my Windows Speech Recognition profile before that reinstall, so ended up having to go through a few speech recognition training sessions and will need to re-add the DCS Russian airport names to the dictionary again. I’ll learn.
