Spitfire no sounds

The FlyingIron Simulations Spitfire purchased in the past for MS 2020 was showing in library and down as streaming in 2024 but when using it there is no sounds. This is particularly annoying because it may be the best sounding plane in the sim. I think I read somewhere that a possible solution would be to delete all the files for that plane then next time you start the sim it would force MS to stream freshly and any mixup with files would be rectified, but i dont even know where to locate these files on the steam version. Can anyone help please thanks.

We tried and that doesn’t work!
If you can see the Spitfire in your Community folder (or Official folder) the interim answer seems to be to swap in the engine noise from the default P51 (or better still the AH Hurricane if you have it).

Details from the FI Discord:
open the aircraft cfg file for both the flyingiron-spitfire and the flyingiron-spitfirecw
locate each [FLTSIM.x] section
edit the line(s) where you see SOUND=" "
to Sound= “.
.
\ah-p51d\sound”

Hope this helps.

Had this problem with a few aircraft.

Delete your FS cache (you may need to go to the location of the cache on your PC / laptop).

Restart sim - enable cache.

All sounds back.

Don’t suppose you know the location do you? I saw a tutorial once showing the location if it’s the MS Store version, but it’s different on steam. I suppose I could try searching for any files that have the word FlyingIron with a windows search to locate the files

Don’t bother, while it may fix some other sound issues with other aircraft it won’t solve the issue with the Spitfire.
EDIT: See posts below, this might still be worth a shot.
EDIT 2: Or maybe not

The lack of sound on the Spitfire in MSFS2024 is a known issue, covered several times in their Discord server. It’s nothing to do with streaming issues or cached data, it simply doesn’t work. The only workaround is to “alias” sounds from another aircraft as mentioned above, but that won’t be perfect since lots of secondary sounds like switches and other effects will be missing.

FlyingIron have explained they are updating the Spitfire for MSFS2024. No info on timing yet, but apparently it’s the first of their aircraft to be updated.

My Spitfire works ok now.

On PC:

Users/Your name/AppData/Local/Packages/Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe/local cache/ROLLINGCACHE.CCC

Delete this file (check that it is the same size as you created)

Next time you load up FS, set the cache (I use 200gb), it will slow things down a bit until cache is rebuilt.

Wow that’s a surprise, I don’t get how that fixed it since the problem also exists on the downloads direct from FlyingIron - I.e. it’s not streamed from the Marketplace.

But anyway, I stand corrected. It’s definitely worth a try but that solution didn’t work for me.

I am on PC. I read about the cache issue a few weeks ago. All the aircraft I had sound problems with are now working. We all help each other

I just tried it, and as expected there is still zero sound on the FlyingIron Spitfire. Do you have a different Spitfire that you are talking about (Aeroplane Heaven? Flight Replicas?)

I did have this working (Flying Iron) but I have just tried it again and I have lost all my bindings and the sound.

The last time I flew it was before the last update - it is one of my favourite aircraft.

I will try deleting my cache again.

FS2024 is weird as some of my FS2020 aircraft work perfectly but others don’t.

I will also try to stop streaming it and then re-enable.

I will update you if I again get it working.

I have the locally installed version from Simmarket which shouldn’t use the cache, at least in theory. It would be interesting to know if the streamed version from the Marketplace behaves differently in regards to sound.

Further to my last.

The F6F and P38 still work.

And I now see an additional file with the Spit, ‘flyingiron-spitfire_CVT_’

I have no idea what this is as no other aircraft has it???

the only FI plane that doesn’t have sound is the spitfire. just as everyone has already said.

Some FS2020 aircraft have those when some files are being converted by FS2024. I also have folders like that for the Azurpoly Bronco, FlyInside Bell 206, the GotFriends Wilga and the TacFlight Kiowa 58D.

I just deleted the cache, and I can confirm, that I do not have sound on the Spit now.

I do have sound (that I didn’t when I first installed FS2024) on the other aircraft that I love to fly.

Sorry if I confused anyone.

you will hear sounds but not the Merlin. When you go outside the cockpit you will hear you friend in his spitfire flying next to you, but not your own engine. Cockpit sounds work.

Thanks for responding and a shame we have to wait. Till then I’m gonna try flying the Corsair

There’s been some good news on this front earlier today. One of the FI devs shared info that they are working on a short-term interim fix for the Spitfire sounds in MSFS 2024. Apparently it’ll have some minor issues like incorrect reverb effects but will be better than nothing until the proper native 2024 version comes out.

This info is in the Spitfire-Chat channel of their Discord. Sounded like the patch was imminent.

Except that one doesn’t work properly in FS2024 either. After a few minutes all cockpit animations, gauges and functionality stop working, which includes not being able to lower the gear anymore. Not even with hardware binds.
