Starting the game is terribly slow and the last update is worse than previous

Just now it takes more that 10 miniues to start the game, in fact I am more at 12 than 10.
Also since the 1.36.2 update, the game has erased all my achievements, logbook, and, when restaring, go through all the questions to configure the game.

I am so angry. It is no more usable like that.

Perhaps a next version will corrrect all these hickups. Just now I am quitting the game. I will check the next update to see if things are better. If not, I quit definitively MSFS.

There certainly seems to be something going on. I am experiencing numerous, new issues I have never experienced before and I have a high end system.

New sync requests, getting stuck on the installation manager and “checking for updates”, CTD before the sim will even start to load, and occasionally getting stuck when trying to return to the main menu… I was away from the sim for several days to recover from an accident and none of this was present until I returned to fly a few days ago.

So I share your frustrations.

My first thought is how many mods are in the community folder.? I checked this am and from start to welcome screen was about 3 minutes for the second start of the day.

If you have a lot of mods, you might try reducing the number since MSFS seem to check all of them even if not being used in the flight.

I have only a few mods in the community folder and fly mostly stock aircraft with a modest system. I have a pretty good internet connection.

Meager mods for me… Five total. One addon airport, the IFE F-35 and three folders associated with my Navigraph subscription. All there and working with no issues before my short break.

You actually have fewer mods than I do.

How fast is your internet connection? Mine is 250 bps or Bps (I always mix those up). Anyway I think it’s a moderate connection.

Anything running in the background? I run only what’s needed to keep windows going.

Is it possible you antivirus program is checking every downloaded file before letting it through? I use only Windows defender and remain wary of emails and funny sounding stuff (technical term).

I hope you can get this fixed. I’m retired, 83 years old and don’t know what I’d do without MSFS to frustrate and entertain me.

Is this a new update installation (within last 24 hours)? I haven’t started MSFS today but may decide to do a full image backup of my drive and find a way to temporarily disable any future MSFS updates for a while.

You have me by a few years but I am getting up there and consider myself computer dumb but I am learning… lol.

Internet is good 1GB that usually runs around 940 mbps when I run the Speedtest.

I am looking into the background thing. But again, nothing new added or installed on purposes since this all started.

It sure is a fun escape when it is working right, for sure…

I am not sure of the exact timeline but it was certainly more than within 24 hours. I had not loaded the sim for about a week and 1/2 before trying this past Sunday. That’s when all my issues surfaced whereas before my short break none of these issues were present - ever for me.

Ah yes! Microsoft was busy today updating a lot of apps. I have had problems with Xbox and other game updates in past. I’m using the Microsoft store version of MSFS and some of these Microsoft apps have wrecked havoc on my installation of MSFS.
A short term solution for Microsoft Windows users is to restore back to an earlier restore point and see if issue goes away. You still have joy after that of preventing Windows from updating again (I think you can still delay updating to some future time)
Here is what happened to me today:

Interesting. Thanks. I will give the sim a try tonight and see if these updates change anything.

Hello, I just joined the forum looking for this problem.
As I hadn’t used MSFS for a long time, I didn’t even do any research, I just reinstalled it completely cleanly, without any content in the community folder. To my surprise the problem persists.
I’m waiting for solutions.

I found this comment on some other forum (similar to this issue discussion).

“Your MSFS setting are stored on the cloud. I would check if there windows updates .If update is required so update windows (its known for causing all kind of online problem when update is pending). Next check if xbox upp is app to date. After that log out of xbox app restart computer and log in again. Start MSFS see if your setting have beet retrieved from the cloud”

So maybe this can be another thing to try (with a Microsoft Store installation) is to do as suggested - log out of Xbox app, reboot, log into Xbox app, then start MSFS again. Definitely a recent update to the Xbox app has been made (at least on my Windows 10 PC).

I have only been able to open MSFS with Proton VPN. I have everything updated on Windows 11, Xbox, Microsoft Store..
MSFS spends 5 to 10 minutes in this state before starting.

This is becoming frustrating, especially since it appears to be rare among users
