Steam - Windows Store - upgrades/purchases carry over Question

Hi there,
back in 2020 I have bought the premium deluxe edition of MSFS 2020 and connected it to my Microsoft Account / XBox Gamretag. I also made several purchases within the marketplace, paying them with mscoins paid through Steam.

Now, with MSFS 2024, I so far did not buy it but since I have GamePass Ultimate was able to access it through the MS Store /XBox App. Fortunately, some of the addons as well as right now, with the opening of the marketplace, upgraded versions of planes and airports are available to me, because I own the PD version on Steam.

Question: Eventually, I want to purchase the Standard Edition of 2024 on Steam, in order to be independent of Game Pass.

Will I then be able to access my originally bought addons AS WELL AS the “free” upgrades to the deluxe versions of planes and airports again - because they are linked to my MS-/XBox Account? Or is this a one time upgrade now on GamePass and I would have to buy the upgrades and addons again if I decide to go back to Steam?

This might be a silly question, but I read somewhere else that addons bought in different stores (Steam vs. MS Windows) do not carry over, even though they are from the same account and within the game’s marketplace.

Many thanks for any clarification. I am right now scared to download the free updated versions of planes and scenery through the marketplace…

Purchases don’t transfer between the Xbox ecosystem and Steam. If you’re already invested in the Steam version of 2020, buy FS24 on Steam.

Edited for clarity.

Thank you for your reply. This is what I read. But for some reason, I can the addons and free upgrade (because of PD 2020) versions on the GamePass Windows Store version. This is why I am confused.

As I understand it, premium deluxe upgrades don’t transfer either, unless that has changed since FS24 released.

This is confusing. When I loaded MSFS 2024 via GamePass on PC, it said something like “We know you” and mentioned that my addons from 2020 (which is on Steam) were available.

I am only worried now that since I have “claimed” these for 2024, I cannot do that when I eventually buy the programm on Steam.

Yeah I’ve never heard of this before. Hopefully a Community Manager can chime in with official word.

Stores have changed for 24 so it could very well be connected between both versions (which it should have been for 2020 also if you use the same profile, but didn’t)

You can always refund the Steam version if it doesn’t, you should have enough time to see if it does (< 2hrs) Or ask MS support, atleast you can blame them if it doesn’t. ^^
