SteamVR MR way better than OpenXR MR (almost no wobble at all) on Reverb G2

Hello everyone,

I just recently got a used G2 and went right into performance testing in MSFS and various other titles.

I always thought OpenXR was superior to OpenVR, but for some reason the SteamVR Reprojection technique (Motion Vector) works so much better for me in MSFS and Assetto Corsa (the only ones I tested so far), than the “native” Open XR Reprojection.

I tried with and without Open XR Settings App installed. I tried all 3 Reprojection Types, Original, Extended, Flow Motion. I tried half, third, quarter framerate. I tried Open XR Toolkit and its reprojection types. Turbo mode, frame throttling, every possible combination of settings.

They all look way worse than just plain Steam VR Motion Vector. In fact, at 45 fps the SteamVR MR has zero (absolutely none) wobbling ingame.

OpenXr will always give some kind of wobbling or ghosting even at 45. Especially noticeable on the cockpit outlines, window frames etc.

Is that how it´s supposed to be? Can someone try it and share their experience? You need to activate motion vector in the WMR for SteamVR settings however, because it is disabeld by default. in VR push the Hamburger button on wmr controller at select wmr settings on the bottom → Graphics

Cheers
