ISSUE DESCRIPTION

I was having great difficulty with CTD’s with SU2, so I figured SU3 would be better. I always thought the streaming method MSFS2024 uses was the cause of my CTD’s. So once SU3 was installed, I downloaded the base package on my HD and all US updates and US Cities on my HD as well. That simply did not help. Despite latest Nvidia drivers, updated BIOS, recent re-install onMSFS2024, I get CTD every time on start up in the USA. I can fly some places like Hawaii and Africa for some unknown reason, but not in North America. So, the CTD nightmare continues. MSFS2020 on same computer runs perfectly. Nvidia 4090 card and 13900K CPU

REPRODUCTION STEPS

  1. Any time I load a free flight in, I either crash when map zooms in, or when plane is placed initially on the runway. Rarely I can take off. If I o, Ill get CTD 95% of te time in the first 30 seconds.

Hi JC,
I’m curious, do you have the Nvidia App installed? I recently noticed that MSFS2024 had started randomly crashing after about 5-10mins. I did recently accept an update to the Nvidia App but I really don’t remember if my 2024 issues coincided.
Anyways, there are many post here mentioning that the Nvidia app causes problems for lots of people (definitely not all), so I would suggest uninstalling it, DDUing your currently installed driver and then manually installing the latest Nvidia driver.
I did this and my crash issues vanished!

Still a mystery. I have SU3 Beta and I downloaded base and all US airports scenery to my HD. I get 100% CTD at any airport in the world I try. However I can load in any Hawaiian airport and do island hopping. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? It makes no sense how Hawaii is stable, but the rest of the world is not. I don’t have NVIDIA APP, I updated BIOS and drivers. Community folder is empty. I did a Cinebench and single core runs good, multi core check fails every time and yields an error message - something about APP DATA file - not sure if that means my CPU is bad??? Temps during single core are all good. MSFS2020 runs perfectly on same HD as MSFS2024. maybe that is an issue having 2020 and 2024 on same HD??? Is a 2 TB solid state HD.

It’s not weird getting CTD’s by putting all scenery’s on a solid state drive I think :thinking:

2024 needs to get to those files fast. My guess is that streaming is a lot faster already than using a solid state drive. Also I don’t know what CPU you have but that also can hold it back in combination with the drive and gives CTD’s. Hawai just works cause there are less scenery’s to draw. 2020 works cause it is designed that way (not being streamed).

If you have a poor internet connection I suggest to get a m.2 drive.

Again… above is just my thoughts on your issue. Maybe it can help you
