Still no in-cloud turbulence in live-WX (2024)

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
In-cloud turbulence was/is sorely missing in MS2020.
Sebastian said the MS2024 density levels have been changed, and we will experience violent turbulence, up-/downdrafts etc in 2024.
Been storm chasing around the globe (Indonesia etc).
Found a ‘purple’(GTN750) storm cell in the Camair 480. No turbulence. No drafts.
AP kept wings level without any problems, maintaining altitude. Some minor shaking.

Thought maybe the planes with the ‘old’ flight model might not experience turbulence correctly. So swapped to the C172.
‘Red’ area on NEXRAD. Exactly same: no turbiulence. Steady as silk…

Where is the bad WX? Give us a reason to avoid bad WX. Now clouds are still just for looks…

The mechanical turbulence seems good though (but dont mistake that for in-cloud turbulence).
I also do get turbulence in any WX if the winds are gusting (like MS2020).
Turbulence setting=Realistic.

Provide specific location or coordinates:

Provide time and date of the observed weather issue:
0100Z 27.nov. Live WX. Indonesia etc.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
Couldn’t find any turbulence in any clouds. ie all the time.

Awful isn’t it.
Some people are complaining about light to moderate turbulence and this is why Asobo doesn’t do realistic bad weather.

My wish is that they add a new “Realistic” mode and rename the current weather “Normal” or something. That way we can fly in realistic storms and suffer consequences of bad actions while most players can be happy with the current effects.

As and FYI, ActiveSky can give up to 2,000 fpm up/downdraughts which is better. I didn’t think turbulence was any more than moderate but hard to tell in a sim. It took a fair but of not-paying-attention to suffer a structual failure even in AS.

oh, where do we start… too few topics regarding realistic weather, scattered around the forums and the dev Q&A, leaving realism in a broken state, overcasting the future of the sim as being realistic as we hope it will be.
Well, you saw what I did here… after despair, comes humor I guess… nothing much to do. I’ve been tirelessly trying to promote such core topics since FS2020 alpha but it’s really feels that it’s not in the focus nor receiving the thorough attention like other aspects. My only hope is to be surprised in a positive way at somepoint. Thanks to you and everyone who keeps promoting these essential aspects…

Yeah. “Problem” is that Sebastian claimed in-cloud turbulence had been fixed in 2024, with strong up-/downdrafts (up to 8000ft/m or something) and strong turbulence…blabla…density levels fixed…

So where is it?
An absolute joke to fly an ultra-light through the hardest WX on the planet…
Don’t call it realistic turbulence then. And let those rail pilots who dont like turbulence turn it off.
But at least tune it so those who want realistic turbulence have it! Sooo…tired…of…this…

Sigh…

Weather avoidance is a crucial part of real aviation, yet MSFS completely ignores this aspect of flight planning and decision-making, which ultimately makes it more of a game than a true simulator. I wish it will change soon.
